I dont see why anyone has a problem with Danny the lad works his dogs and I wouldnt have a problem with him being a judge at a game fair the lad knows his stuff when it comes to dogs. not sure if he knows much about plastic bags though!

danny wouldn't be a allowed to judge he would be too honest and pick out a real working dog

i think we should do a poll to vote danny as judge of the shanes castle fair, at less it would be a worker that got picked

it should always be a working judge that judges at all shows with experience in the field if they haven't worked the dogs there judging they don't know what is needed in the type to do its job well.mite as well be a kc show as that's the way they are all heading with rules and regs and people telling what way a dog should be bred for the field when they have never stepped foot in it themselves or there dogs.

that couldn't happen cause the NIRLC are running it too. if Albert only knew :) There is plenty more pms waiting to back that up .. only problem is they contact the moderators and get posts taking off . they can't stand up in their own defence

Bapp,

The NILRC are not running the Shanes Castle event - the All ireland terrier, whippet and lurcher show and racing is being run by the Glenbank working club within the framework that I and my fellow directors have set up. The judges for this year have been selected and we have confidence that they will do a good job. If they don't I will be the first to offer constructive criticism- I don't think this will be necessary. I am and neverhave been Kennel blind and I have been on the wrong end of what I considered to be some poor decisions but when I entered a show , test or trial I realised I was asking for that judges opinion - if I didn't like it I simply avoided them in future. But I never pre-judged what judges would do.

I think bodies that seek to represent terriers and lurchers are necessary and I fully supported the setting up of the NILRC as I did the IWTF and both will be at Shanes Castle to demonstrate that we support terriers, whippets and lurchers. The IWTF will be exhibiting with other field sports organisations including the NARGC in our Woodcock & Salmon Pavilion and that is how it should be - we are all part of one community. It took some time for the IWTF to get established and settle down and so I see that it will take a little while for the NILRC to develop. They have made great strides in re-organising the racing and grading but inevitably there will be some disputes but I would ask people to hold off judging them until the end of this show season. This will give the club and its rules time to get established, time for the club ato open up membership so that more views are heard and considered within and without the club etc. As I say the NILRC will be at Shanes to assist with grading in the racing , helping to line judge etc. and I am delighted to welcome them there. If anyone has any serious gripes about how things are run I am happy to discuss it with them on the day. But I would ask you to give the club a chance to show what they can do at what, with decent weather, I genuinely feel will the best fair I have ever been involved with and a real showpiece for Irish country sports.

I have had some robust discussions with Danny but I hope, without rancour, and subject to us having a serious discussion I don't have a problem asking the team to consider him for a judging appointment in 2014.

Albert ,

should it not be a non-competing party judging the line? there have been a few close finishes and i dont think id be given a fair decision if it was a close finish.... dont blow this out of portion but there is a strong opinion that the club are favouring some people over others and i think if you read the reply i got from one of the members you can read the hatried they have for me and my"cronies" as it was put! id be very happy with Matt lee or yourselves judging line, or any of the other orginal members of the NILRC like kieran..or the moira lads ...? good honest blokes .....or i think many of us will be getting a raw deal...

Fiona,

The Master Mc Grath will be judged by a three judge system supported by a photo finish and I also am usually present. BUT as I always say before the race each heat is judged by the majority of the judges - a 2:1 decision wins it - although we have only had to go this route once. The judges this year are Dazzam - who volunteered his services early on in the competition and who has judged every year ; Tom Fulton Chairman of the Hunting Association of NI - who knows non of the competitors and a judge to be nominated by the NILRC club. I have confidence in the integrity of the judges and that the line judging will be fair. Judging in the All Ireland Championship races will be by NILRC members and Glenbank Club members. I consider the judging at Shanes will be fair.
