Snares are a legitimate tool to assist in the control of various pest species.....

HOWEVER,...whereas mistakes can occur,....even when used by experienced operatives,..there is NO excuse for ignorance and blatant cruelty. Snares are best checked TWICE a day to hopefully prevent needless suffering..

And folk who are not willing to learn the correct methods of using such potentially lethal tools,..would be best served by leaving the practice to them that do care...

This has nothing to do with antis or their ilk,..its just plain good sense and the actions of any humane person.

Snares are an efficient form of control, and should be used by someone who knows what there doing, ie set heights, locations, etc they should also be checked at least once everyday morning and night being preferable... as with everthing in life, theres people who don't follow things correctly.. these sort of sites push for snaring to be banned completely, obviously their one sided in opinion and show shocking images to get the message across to the public...

just had a quick look at the anti snaring campagne site ........ the snare they said killed the badger was a perfect circle and hadnt had anything caught in it, no way not on this earth.... lieing ba...rds .... even if you have something in a wire for seconds you still cant get them back like that.... although leaving a snare un checked for what is obviously longer than 24 hours makes life difficult for all

and as for the picture of JOHN GILL of COUNTY DURHAM the one man anti snaring campagner... he got every thing he deserved, they fail to mention what had gone on/ he had done in the few weeks before to push someone to do that to him....sure some of the lads that are down that way still will know what im on about......imo the lad/lads that did it are :notworthy: and need a bucket load of :drink:

Both of the above are absolutley correct, the trouble is it is like guns and knives, the object itself is inert, it is by whom it is used or how that brings forth the problems.

To be fair i can see a time not far away where snaring if not banned all together, will only be allowed to be used by "proffessional" authorised people, licensing in other words.

Now this may be a contensious matter, but if this came about i would imagine users would be allocated reg, numbers if these were put onto a plastic tag that was attatched to snares any misuse would be easily traced to the person responsible, BUT, because the snarer was registered they would do their duties according to the law.

Now then, this is where i open a whole can of whoop ass on myself, Personally i would rather see this system come into place than a very valuable tool of my trade dissapear, because of people who make/use shit snares that arent up to the task and then cant be assed to check them and site them in inapropriate places in the first place.

OK, now please feel free to disembowl me.

Regards MT.
