fireman 11,564 Posted May 19, 2013 Report Share Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Like i say f*ck em and this week had the first chicks of the year leave a nest,goldie mules and it's off a loose hen in with the goldie pair,this hen last year was a pain and nearly had a neck stretch as she was leaving chicks and was the mother of the mule i had reared last year.Well she's done a perfect job this time round and has reared 4 cracking well fed all healthy goldie mule chicks all by herself and they been keeping her busy. I've got 2 lutino greenfinch hens down on eggs and these are due towards the end of this week,the cock is making sure there both not short of nesting stuff although there both built and down hard,i'll be putting in a canary hen the next couple of days and see if any greenie mules appear. The greenie nests and cock carrying nest stuff. forgot to glue this nest liner in,sorted now though. Got some redpolls down on 7 eggs between 2 hens and rung my first chick today in a greenie chick who's been hatched by a canary,found a nest of dead canary chicks today,hen stopped feeding them so she going in with the greenie cock where she can't nest to high for me to see if she's being a useless mother again.
