Top Quality Plastic Ferret Boxes

Recommended Posts

I've got both types..In winter I find the ferrets get wet inside the box from condensation dripping off the sides etc etc..so after a hard days graft and lots of dropping in and out of box the ferrets can end up looking like theyve been swimmimg...which is not good on a below freezing long hard day.

Im summer they are much the same but the ferrets suffer because the black plastic gets very hot and sweaty.. ( yes some of us do have to do a bit in summer also ).

If you keep the box on the larger side for each ferret and dont cram in 3 ferrets for a single compartment etc etc,Plus plenty of ventilation holes..They are ok and will last a lifetime. also very strong material makes it much easier to clean and to keep clean.

Theres nothing the plastic does that wood doesnt already do in a sort of better way really..I personally prefer wood.

Last thing to the OP..great work there my friend..absolutely wasted on ferrets..The flightcase strip edging aluminium is a great touch but can also be a very nasty accident when it comes away from edges which it would after a few sessions of knocking it about on the floor and general abuse from wear and tear.

Please dont take this the wrong way..but a man with your talents would be much better rewarded making bespoke flight cases for musical intsruments and high end equipment..

I thought the same till 15year ago when I got my first bow back TC ,,,,

I have little single bow back,,,, that incidentally I can get 3 small stinkers in... And I tend to carry it high on my back right in the middle,,, rather than round my waist ,,,

IDE never go back to a flat back box,,,, there's loads better mate

Tomo,

About 15 years ago I was asked to make one of these bow back ferret boxes that a mate had seen somewhere. So I made him one, I liked the look of it so I made one for myself. I used it a couple of times and found it no different to a flat backed box, mind I was a lot thinner then. Someone else asked for one so I sold him the one I made for myself. I made a few more but none for myself.

All depends on the depth of the bow TC.

If you can get a good deep bow the box will wrap itself around you and fit like a glove

Thats where I may have gone wrong, too shallow a bow.

Look nice but I don't get why you'd pay a premium for an alternative to a wooden box when a wooden box does the job perfectly well.

Quick question re. the drainage holes.....so if the ferret has a piss it'll be dripping down the back of your legs? nice!

I agree with vin, you obviously have a talent, use it to make something that's going to make you a bit of dosh!! there's never going to be loads of money in ferret boxes.

Its the old statement if it works why fix it, wood has been used for years, if made of ply it lightweight tough as old boots, doesn't heat up, or get cold.

Appears well made, but as been said, don't like the doors, looks to me that rain would enter, and at £45 which probably isn't unreasonable for the materials and work that has been employed, you can pick up a wooden one which will do the same job and be a lot cheaper.

may be better if you designed Dog transport boxes for cars.
