My Challenge To Nigel And Danny

Recommended Posts

While I love a challenge and seeing someone taking it up and on several occasions I have taken challenges up that I probably should not have, I feel the amount of money involved and the dispute over how it is to be run could probably sour relations in the lurcher world. Plus it is obvious that the concept has caught the imagination of many on this forum and many people including me would like to see it.

As I have said elsewhere we took a similar gundog challenge and turned it in to a fun event watched by hundreds of people at Shanes Castle and it ultimately formed the basis for our major gundog competition this year.

So my challenge is for Danny and Nigel to run their dogs for a bit of fun and a purse of £50 at a fox tail at Shanes Castle. I will put this prize up and match it with a similar donation to a charity of the choice of the winner plus two trophies so that neither man goes home empty handed!

Apart from settling the dispute in an honourable and amicable fashion I think it would be good to see the two types of dogs racing and could be instructive all round. But it would be only fair to Danny that he chooses the distance or Nigel agrees a handicap depending on the type of dog Danny puts up.

Thanks guys - a challenge should always end up with the two guys shaking hands. I have won many rifle shooting; playing chess - for a guy's wages v mine - he lost because he didn't know I was unbeaten in the top leagues in Ireland - but I only took £20 to teach him a leson, Drinking a pint against one of the top brewery execs - cost him £50; Yard of ale - flushed with success with the pint - took this on - almost sick and lost £20; racing cars to a location with the guy giving me a handicap - he won!

The challenge caught my imagination but too serious in terms of money. My challenge was a bit of fun and we could well make it into an annual event of the entered dog v the racing dog - with a small handicap.

That challenge is way too serious!!!!!! How about keeping the dogs out of this one. Let the two of them chase the foxtail up the Master McGrath track after downing 12 pints of guinness each. Muzzles compulsory of course

albert i will get in touch about this but it should be 50 for each mans c

Danny,

Happy to put up £50 to each man's charity and a couple of good trophies for winner and loser. Think it would create a great deal of interest and there would be no losers! The last time we did it with the gundogs both guys got a huge round of applause. Cracking looking bitch you have - Nigel might need the handicap!
