Wxm 1,638
right or wrong I feed mine and the missus dogs (whippet and 2 fanny lickers) once a day, I use a scoop like (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plastic-Pet-Food-Scoop-Dog-Cats-Hamsters-Rabbits-5054-/140957817914?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&hash=item20d1bd9c3a) I put half a tin of butchers tripe mix in and 1 scoop of meal. (at the min im using beta - maintenance verys from £20 - £30 a bag) if it makes a difference I wet the meal. anymore and they end up wasting it and it end up lying there. but the amount I give them look well on it. a bag lasts approx 5 - 6 weeks. I tried the beta greyhound £17 - £20 a bag but they seem to drop weight and require more meal. its all done in the same way with meat and water but the sack only seems to last 4 - 5 weeks. has anyone else found this the fact the dearer do work out cheaper as you have to give less and the sack lasts longer and the likes of the dr john variety £7 - £11 a bag or similar used in the same manner you have to literality shovel it in the bowl to see any difference / benefits. But even still theres the down fall with having to go shares in either a land fill site or some other similar to get rid of the dog muck, as it seem to go straight through them. so has anyone else moved on from a cheaper meal to a dearer meal for similar reasons? if so what meal did you discard and what are you using now? wxm
LaraCroft 863
Cheaper dog foods have lower quality protein sources, and are bulked out with stuff the dog can't digest well, like rusk, grain and ash etc - thats why you need to feed more, and they produce loads more shit to clear up. I've used Field and Trial stuff before, it's VAT free, so cheaper than some of the standard dog food ones, but I feed raw at the moment.

No point changing for a dearer one? I dunno about you but I wouldn't wanna shit for England every day. If for an extra fiver a bag you could have them producing firmer/less turds would you not buy that?
bigdaz 688
Not a dig Ruby and you're saying you're dogs look well on it, but at £7 for 25kilos no wonder they'e shiting for Scotland must be packed out with all sorts of crap. I'd sooner pay a bit more and give the dogs arses a rest.
Nik_B 3,791
Feed my lab on Skinners Duck & Rice and then mix in a few scraps. If I ever run out have have to buy crap from the shop like Baxters or Pedegree his sh*t looks completely different in a bad way.
