Im not sure on the exact names of the products but if you ask in any agrecultural shop they will have them. My lurcher cut his pad really bad so i got an anteseptic spray to clean it. The spray was purple and died his fur for ages. Then i used a powder which is used for cuts on things like cows, horses sheep etc that clots the cut up and i used cotton wool pads between the pad and on the cut to cushion it and keep them from rubbing if that makes sense and bandaged it with a horse bandage. The cut was healed within a few weak. My biggest problem was keeping the cut dry so it would knit together. Il stick a picture up of his foot afterwards you can see how his leg was stained he looked a bit odd.

The light coloured bit on his pad was the cut. I forgot to mention i bathed it daily with salt water and obviously always put clean dressings on.

It's deep and across middle of pad so not the best of places to tape up

Like paulus said sensible exercise and time. I thought my dogs cut had healed there wasnt even a scab so i took him out for a run on the football field thinking its nice and flat wothin 10 minutes of running he was limping again and the cut had re-opened slightly. So its worth bearing in mind even when they look healed it may not always be the case.

Aluminum spray is better than purple spray according to my own vet has to be used on a clean wound however

Same place ye get purple spray: farm vets, feed stores, marts, online animal chemists

wash a couple of times a day with salt water leave it so the dog can lick it if you bandage or tape it and it gets damp it helps bacteria to multiply/ leave it on easy walking for a couple of months to heal from the inside out, rushing them back into running causes problems. /

like others have said, clean the wound, close it by wrapping wi bandage, always used witchhazel after anticeptic, seemed to help mine/me kids cuts and scrapes knit better, one of grandma's tips. Dogs feet came good quick the couple of times I tried it so there might be summat in it. keep the dog in for a day or two aswell if you can. dont run the dog till its healed proper, if the cut has closed when you first take the dressing off to change it, leave it off to let some air get too it or it'll weep.

try cut and heal 10-15 days and then gentle walking on lead for a few wks works for me heres a link.

That manuka honey is the business we have started using it on are cows this year for there feet I will be stealing some this year me thinks cos it works better then anything else I've seen
