walshie 2,804
I've just agreed to make an oil drum barbecue rather than fork out £200 to buy one. I just bought an oil drum off evilbay and I have a welder. How hard can it be?
moxy 617
Easy as pie mate. Just make sure you burn it off before cooking your ribs
moxy 617
A grinder and 1 mm slitting discs will give you a better cut than a 12" stihl
Blackbriar 8,569
Before you use any kind of cutter, do you know what the drum had in it ???
sussex 5,803
Keep it covered when not in use ,my one rusted away pretty quick .

Give it a good clean out before you do anything with it. i cant draw for Sh*T but i'll try and find some pics of one i made a while back. i found a hinged hole in the bottom for sweeping out was a good addition. A small bit of stainless as a hot plate on one side. may have a bit spare laying around if you want it.
walshie 2,804
Any help much appreciated. i just opened my mouth and said I'd make one and now I realise i don't have a clue. I assume you need a grid in the bottom to hold the charcoal and vents? How can I get so out of my depth cutting a barrel in half?

Dont expect it to last forever it'll soon look tired come winter and the mrs will probably want the scrap throwing in the bin.

Probably, but at least i'll have half an oil drum left to make another one!

Have you no finesse you animal To add. It won't make an iota of difference what it had in. You won't create enough heat within to cause it to combust whilst cutting. Unless it was toxic waste. Then you may melt or grow an extra leg.
