tandors 888
how anyone can get passionate about that bunch of no hopers is beyond me they are crap in the most part collectively and individually just not good enough and i dont believe they feel tlhe pride when they pull on the shirt that other countries players seem to our level seems to be that of a small eastern block country and it goes right down to grass roots level no investment. gnasher16 31,602
Suppose that comes down to decisions you make in your life. You decide to support a football team your born into your National side. Ive been to my fair share of Scotland games....never went for the flowing football or the winning. ..i went for the banter, the drink and the day out to get behind the team. Infact i dont think ive ever been to a Scotland game which ment anything....its only ever been friendlies ive been too. Oh and i dont think i'd ever cry if we got beat from a side........not that ive cried after loosing a cup final...... I think people should be forced to support the club your born into same as your forced to support the nation your born into...... We all defend our clubs to the last even if we,re talking bollocks...........yet we,re so casual in saying the national teams crap we dont give it a second thought...................................and i have cried over losing a cup final to Steven Gerrad

No your not.............you either support or you dont......i support West Ham,we are shit i know that.....we SHOULD do this and we SHOULD do that but we dont....does that stop me supporting,no...........why do you have to " feel a connection "................your supporting the 3 lions badge not the individuals. If more people DID actually support ( media included ) rather than just slag off we might get somewhere...........go to Italy or Germany you wont hear them slag off their national side......oh but wait, they are good so its ok !! tandors 888
lol i dont think your getting the fact that i dont class a team full of black lads as being english or representing me rightly or wrongly its my opinion not one i want to force onto others and im sure theres plenty of french and german fans who feel the same

I think the media are a huge part of the blame in overhyping your players and then shooting then down when they're found out at the highest level Gnash. When I was a kid your team was almost always supported in the media and players were treated as heroes for their efforts when they came back from their knock out in whatever Q/F or S/F they had just come back from.. I can then remember a shift when some team, (can't remember which one it was, Argentina, Brazil or Italy I think..) got pelted with tomatoes when they came home early from whatever tournament they came home from, and the papers suddenly started asking why we in Britain support our players no matter what and we should demand more.. I just think our expectation levels are unrealistically high Malt...............we are not and never have been world leaders in the sport what makes us think we should be the greatest footballing nation in the world just because we gave the world the game..............I think quarter finals in World Cups is a realistic goal for us only 7 or 8 countries have ever won the tournament and we are one of them,by my reckoning that puts us as one of the top 8 footballing nations..........quarter finals = last 8.................seems logical to me id be happy with that........................talking about winning these tournaments is just silly unnecesary pressure.
NEWKID 29,129
We've always had high expectations Gnash, it's part of being an England fan lol... We've gone out on penaltys at the semi final stages twice in major tournament, luck can dictate as much as skill at times... Look at the Greeks in 2004.. We expect because we think of ourselves as a big footballing nation, I definitely think we should expect our side to beat Motenegro though, the way Motenegro celebrated at the end shows what it means to them to draw with England... The positive for me was that first half Peformance, that was as good a half as I've seen from an England team for a while, we just need to play like that for 90mins lol

I dont see any of that as the crisis some people seem to see it as.............but then i think my expectations are maybe a little more realistic than others.

It will only be a crisis if we fail to qualify because we draw when we should win ( maybe not a crisis lol), I just don't see itas too high an expectation to beat Ukraine at home and beat Motenegro.... I don't expect to beat Spain, Italy, Brazil etc, that would be having high expectations... We've got some good youngsters coming through again though so that should raise our expectations over the next few years...
