Mince it, and feed it raw. Mine have a mix of minced rabbit and chicken, and then whole raw stuff that they can cope with. I freeze the rabbit for a few weeks first, then defrost and feed.

i freeze for 6-8 weeks, by then should have killed the worms, and worm the dog 3 times a year, and so far never get any worms. i give the dogs 1/2 rabbit each, and it give them somthing to chew on

What make of mincer do you have? have you tried it, ive heard they have to be really powerful to mince rabbit on the bone, and are expensive. a good tip, a Butcher told me freeze the rabbit, and when

You've to much money Lara? 5l of cod liver oil! Before these deep fat fryers came out I used to get the lard out of the chip pan when it had cooled down and set hard lol...

That Super solvatax is pretty cheap from the horse feed place, I used to get it when I had horses but I still think they need that animal fat too.

pfffttt - chip fat ? No wonder Fife's ears are crooked, and Ruby has very short legs for a lurcher

The local store does a pretty good deal on the oil, to be fair - my wages don't stretch that far !

I don't ( my choice ) I gut them.

Me too ... to be honest when im grafting the dogs to the max I don't feed rabbit there isnt enough in them for my liking,I like plenty of fat amongst my dog scran and even then I buy blocks of lard and add some of that ... seem to look and run ok anyway and my last two were 16 and 14 year old when they went so no long term health issues?

what else andy did you feed with the lard, to bulk'em up,? i feed 1lb 1/2 raw mince chicken + meal, and if i wanted to put extra add lamb + pasta .

Hey up Ray...I feed raw minced chicken which is quite fatty anyway plus pasta and add a dollop of lard which is the 1st thing they eat plus a teaspoon of White E which while expensive is good stuff especially when you want the dog in top order..I do on occasions have them on biscuit with the above and when I do I feed them on quality puppy biscuit which is also generally high in fat and protein too, also plenty of venni raw for a wee change my way of doing things Ray,we all do things different mate and what works for one may not another?

Steve it's the expensive stuff lol when it comes to Vitamin E ..the horse places sell it for about 40-50 quod a tub but that will last you a long time...real good stuff mate when bringing a dog to it's peak..ATB Andy

a good tip, a Butcher told me freeze the rabbit, and when defrosting, when its just partly defrosted then put it through the mincer, makes it easier for the machine to chop.

 works well and also makes the mince firmer if you mince the rabbits fresh theres a lot of moisture and blood and you end up with slop but freeze it and it gets a good texture
