RubyTex 1,957
Tough titty, if you're off on the sick you don't jet to the other side of the world for a 2 month jolly, you should be checking in with the doctors etc regularly not getting paid for being on holiday..

Depends what you're off sick for, sometimes a nice holiday helps recuperation.. Long haul flight to Oz is maybe stretching it a bit far though!

socks 32,253
If your on the sick doesn't mean you can't go on holiday ... He may have an injury that is long term and he needs an operation and its the nhs that are holding him up ... He works with young kids perhaps he was attacked and is off with some sort of mental issue ... The point is we don't know the full story ..... However being from Myrther he is probably on the fiddle lol ..........
Born Hunter 17,960
As Malt and Socks have pointed out, we don't know the full facts................ however I'd say it's fair to assume he was blagging it based on the fact he's been sacked. Employers have a hell of a time sacking people these days with unfair dismissal cases so I'd hazard a fair guess he's cheated and been caught fair and square.
RubyTex 1,957
Aye but being off work due to stress, at the same time as your partner, and then you end up in Australia for two months...that's not on. A week in the Algarve would suffice, they've been paid by a charity organisation to go to the other side of the world for two months! If you're genuinely off for stress you can't sleep, you can't eat, you're withdrawn and can't function. They look as happy as a pig in shit there...
RubyTex 1,957
Ahh see, that article says nothing. On another article i read, he was off for stress. And his wife who worked for the same charity, was off for exact same reason, at the exact same time. Righto!! Edited to add - and they've been been sacked. They could have a case for unfair dismissal if they can get the doctor to confirm he advised them to get away from it all..

A week or two away at best, not two months! Weird how they both became ill with stress at the same time...
LaraCroft 863
It would depend on what they said the stress was doing to them - if they said they couldn't leave the house, couldn't cope with new people, new situations etc and had become almost recluses - then I think the charity has a point.
