what do you find the pup takes after in terms of size. the mother or the father. for example if the father stood at say 19tts and the mother at 21/22tts, what would the pup likely to be, or is it luck of the draw

Depends on the breeds in the sire and dam, like u say, luck of the draw. Our bitch's sire 1st x collie/grey 25tts, dam 1st x deer/grey 26.5tts, but she eded up at 29tts

General rule somewhere in between but with cross breeds bigger or smaller could happen!

Not a bold statement mate, anybody that knows the bare minimum about genetics, knows that genes are past equally, 50\50 from each parent.

pup can take after anything in its line , i know of a 20" whippet/grey bitch bred with a 22" whippet/grey dog produce a 27" pup

heres a litter i bred.... mother was a whippet/greyhound x bull 22tts ... father was an ex track dog 30tts ... some of the pups threw right back to the grandparents on each side!!!

 

 

 

the one i kept back looked the absolute spit of her grandmother, even had the same patches in the same place!!
