Ok well thanks for the replies that settles it then i was right all along ..................Still cant quite work out the scenario of how 1 crow would be sitting eating 1 warm mature healthy rabbit ....but still i aint no Miss Marple. Ok well thanks for the replies that settles it then i was right all along ..................Still cant quite work out the scenario of how 1 crow would be sitting eating 1 warm mature healthy rabbit ....but still i aint no Miss Marple. Was it indeed healthy Gnash? Could it have had Myxi or VHD perhaps? Or as has been suggested, may have been killed by a BOP (or even possibly a stoat) and the crow f****d it off? Most buzzards would struggle with a adult rabbit but maybe something stronger.
gnasher16 31,469
If it did find it dead then it only died a matter of minutes before..............i suppose Born Hunters theory sounds fair but would a bop do a runner from a single crow and leave his meal ?.........I suppose theres a hundred and one possible scenarios but its land ive walked a thousand times and i guess you just get a feel for a place....and this just seemed odd. Born Hunter 17,910
A single crow is pretty capable of f***ing a buzzard off. Crows are mean ass mothers, tough and bite HARD! LOL. Buzzards aren't made of much really, I'm sure some can kill the odd adult rabbit though. I've seen stuff that had I not seen it myself I would have called anyone else a lier! Sometimes nature just suprises you. Who knows.
Paid 935
seen them kill other birds, and a baby rabbit, but wouldn't of thought they could kill a healthy adult rabbit though. They are clever buggers, and maybe ones learnt how, so i wouldn't 100% say no.
Guest long-tail
possibly killed by a stoat then harrased off the kill by the crows, not sure if that could actualy happen but would explain the still warm carcass they dont leave a lot of damage on a kill, the stoat i mean, maybe something to think about in this murder mystery Edited February 5, 2013 by long-tail
Paid 935
Though this is a jack rabbit, which i think are closer to hares than rabbits. Edited February 5, 2013 by Paid
