nothernlite 18,260
I would make bloody sure to distance myself from this behaviour. It's illegal on mainland UK, and all it does is gives the rest of us a bad name. Report where you can, and make sure people know that you hunt responsibly. I only have one small permission currently - but I would have no problem in either kicking unauthorised/illegal hunters off, or reporting them so that the authorities/farmer could deal with them. what do you mean to report to the authorities ? 2 Quote Link to post

tsteve9999 456
I walk a local wood and the edge of a farm that I have no permission on a few times each week, just mooching with the dog in the daytime. I'm probably an asset to whoever has permission because I've lost count of the number of times I've come across people with air rifles and such who see me and do a runner thinking I'm there legally. I reckon I'm good value at the cost of a few rabbits and squirrels each year. Of course I knew I was poaching. Second - I don't give a flying fcuk about keeping poachers away from my permission - I'm not looking to win any popularity contests. Finally, according to the OP, we're not looking at one or two chasing the odd bunny. What we have been presented with is some people killing hares with dogs on his permission, and leaving them to be found. You have to be able to see the harm that that kind of behaviour does, surely? A sole person walking a boundary where his/her dog may wander onto adjoining land is a totally different scenerio, and excusable, of course. The (hypothetical) lad whose dog bounded off and came back with a dead fox was unfortunate, nothing more. And the law allows for that But killing for the sake of killing, and leaving dead hares to upset people and bu**er up what sport we have left is damnable in the extreme.
