B.P.R 2,798
so tonight i headed to rm2508's bit to try out some new permission just wanted to get a last night on the lamp before xmas as im full up with in-laws as of tomorrow. my youngster on the right, RM's bitch on the left. took along my youngster of 9 1/2 months for her second night as last time she was close to catching but didnt quite get there. picked RM up at 8.30pm and headed off. first field was littered with rabbits but a little lamp shy were they so most headed to cover instantly. as we split, ross after one and me trunching toward the fenceline my rabbit fecked off but ross' dog got a slip. after a short course the bunny was taken on the roll and quicky dispatched. further round the field not much was hanging about so headed back towards the car when 2 rabbits presented themself for my pup. the initial course ended with nothing but i quickly got her back for the second which was sitting tight. i slipped her on the squatter which promptly made its way toward the fence. my bitch done well to keep on it and took her first lamped rabbit on the fenceline. CHUFFED so back in the car to the next field and we both slipped on a rabbit which went in a straight line 400m up the field with the dogs on its arse. it went out the beam (too far away) but was surprisingly caught by RM's dog. further round the same field my bitch got a slip and worked hard for the catch. was very impressed with her. heading to the last field which wasnt ideal as the grass was longish, a rabbit bolted and my bitch was on it, turning it a couple of times before 'nosing' it on the turn where the rabbit faultered straight to ross' incoming dog who done well to keep hold of it. called it a night after that. the night had served it purpose of getting the pup her first catch and getting out before the festivities begin. . ended the shirt few hiurs on 5 rabbits and 1 very happy owner Quote Link to post

RossM 8,149
Permission........ The pup done very well mate on both rabbits, they could have both very easily made the cover of the hedge/line but she put a lot of pressure on them, the first one she pulled from the hedge was great catch and the second was never getting away she was that determined. She doing good, roxis prodigy!!! Quote Link to post
baw 4,360
Great read that, well done guys. Nothing better than when a pup clicks. Surprised your head fitted in the van on the way home 1 Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
AYE. PERMISSION! aye ross i was quite impressed with her, first take was a cracker. that first catch of roxy's was superb, taken on the roll. lucky b*****d will break her neck one day. she ran well bud. baw, youd think the wee dog had won had won me the lottery, was grinning like a cheshire cat. was surprised at her pace. shes certainly got plenty. graham, the fields were a little boggy hence why our wellies weighed 15kg after 2 minutes. some fields were ok, none were waterlogged but the rain had taken its toll and hard going for the dogs-and us! its alright for ross, wee lithium battery and thats it! ive got a fcuking backpack with a big feckoff battery and 4 fat rabbits. weighed a tonne. great fun though. nothing better Quote Link to post
RossM 8,149
A decent night considering no wind. A few rabbits out, but a lot not worth the slip, a bit like that one I said nah to but you clambered over gate for that had f****d off by the time you got the lamp on! I think the dogs only missed 1 slip each? What I would for a 50 runs a night night!! Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
you know me mate. putting in the graft- up and down the fecking hills, flanking the rabbits and having hope that one rabbit sat out might just want to keep eating while i make my move all while your going for the easy routes with ye fancy chest rig on looking like robo lamper i think roxy only missed one slip but cassie missed a couple due to her not seeing the rabbit in the beam. she didnt course it and miss, just missed it in the beam. oh well. for 9 months im a happy chappy Quote Link to post
RossM 8,149
It's called being strategic! I'm sure the rabbits in the last field we done heard you climb that fence and that was f*****g 6 miles away, eh lighthouse? Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
dont start on fence hopping drills. your like a baby elephant bird- my dogs fine with the rain and doesnt flinch or acknowledge its pissing it down. she is thin skinned and doesnt have much fat on her but doesnt feel the cold. think i can speak for RM's dog too in that she doesnt bother with it either. im not shy to put a coat on a dog, with the risk of being ridiculed, i use a coat in the car with the whippet on cold nights or when theres a fair walk. she just cant handke the cold weather, she still works and loves it but inbetween runs shes fecking freezing. if the lurcher couldnt take the cold id have a coat on her no ifs or buts. you dont win any prizes for having a cold dog Edited December 21, 2012 by Blue Pocket Rocket Quote Link to post

This picture may show a bit better this bitch has a good thick coat on her Lee that was the once at that bit where you had me needlessly climbing fences when there was a gate 20 yards up the road. Rake aboot 4,936
Well done Lee, feels good when the pup clicks, One thing though. Be carefull about running both dogs at the same time, that can lead to a few issues,, like retrieval etc, Also, watch that the dog doesn`t get an injury running with no experience with an older heavier dog. Let the dog watch, but then let it have it`s own slips. ATB Quote Link to post
