my bitch went out ferreting for short trips from 12 weeks, just tried not to let her chase anything. and when she eventually caught a rabbit on her own at about a year actually smelling feeling touching a rabbit wasnt such a big shock as she had been around them 12 weeks old. just my opinion on it

I had my Whippet out ferreting with me at six Months, not chasing, but working the hedgerows, watching the Rabbits bolt, learning to work with the ferrets and use his nose,

Has not did him any harm, he has turned into a useful ferreting companion, and has never yipped.

Well it's matter of opinion mate could do damage physically depends on what you do with it I have my out working the hedges and marking since she was 4 months but only in places I know she will only get the odd run but plenty of scent for her to work. I certainly wouldn't be looking to work her properly till she nearly a year old not gonna do them any harm by holding em back for a extra few months
