East Lothian - Beginner with JRT

I am completely new to this, and would love to give Jack a chance at ratting. Off lead Jack does not really leave our side except for small stints of bush whacking, i.e. he is very human orientated. We live in 3rd floor flat with a Jack Russell, he gets out for 3 x 1 hour walks a day and forest walks for longer periods on the weekends, he is fit and very well behaved, but I am feared that he loses some of his hard wired instincts, especially since when I take him back to Bermuda next year there will be rats, big rats!

Ideally a ratting experience for me would be to show up where there are other dogs to indicate the way forward to successful ratting. Maybe this is naive, I have no idea.

If anyone has a farm or other area where they want rats to be taken care of let me know, can I assume it that if I show up with a shovel and let the dog off the lead and his instinct will take over and he will hunt and kills rats on his own? The shovel is a precautionary measure to get him out if he gets stuck (hence why the collar comes off yes?)

I do not have an air rifle and do not plan to get one, is it correct to assume that I do not need one?

What are the 'permissions' all about? Can a dog kill a rat anywhere he catches one?

Thanks for your understanding that I am a newbie and do not know my arse from my elbow, but I would be grateful to join in and get involved and learn, but mostly give Jack the opportunity to be do what he was bred for.

Currently the only thing he kills is his monkey and that's after he has had his way with it!

Jeff

Pigeon shooting on a small farm between Darlington and Richmond, must be able to go mid week not just weekends, this could be a nice little pigeon shooting permission for the right person, I’ve had some good days here but just can’t get there as often as the owner would like

Duck hunting is available over particular seasons during their annual migrations through Egypt. We hunt summer ducks from mid-August to mid-October and the winter migration from early November through the middle of February.  Ducks are a challenging bird to call and shoot and success is also obviously related to a hunter's shooting prowess. Our Services Includes :- airport assistance , Transportation , Lodging , Guides , Best Waterfowl Hunting Areas , Hunting Licenses , Permits Of Gun Entry to Egypt , All Duck Hunting Equipment ( Boats , Decoys , Waders and Duck Calls )  More Info Here

      Hi all,
My Dad  and I have rented a land in Spain. 30 min from Gibraltar airport. We are looking for 5 hunters to share the expenses. Currently i live in Bristol so what i do is to take weekend flights almost every month so im happy that you to join me.
      The land has:
      3 ibex license sep-january
      8 red deers sep-feb
      12red  deer does
      5 roe deers May- September
      Wildboar all the year
The land also includes house and my father is happy to pick up you at the airport.
The price is £2000 per season/hunter
if you know someone who might be interested give me a ring.
The idea is to share the expenses not to sell a hunt as we are not professional outfitters so we are just looking for fellow hunters who are interested in big game shooting to share the experience.
