Sam H 80
I bought a Daystate Huntsman MK1 yesterday, chrono'd at 11.5 in the shop. I got it home and noticed the silencer adapter was loose so took it off cleaned it up and put it on properly. Came to zero the gun today and i cant get two pellets within six inches of each other! I took the silencer off there are no pellets hitting it and checked id put the adapter back on properly that was fine. I have tried 3 different pellets Bisley Magnum, RWS Super H point and some none descript 1.77s. What do's everyone think the problem is? Pellet fussy? Going to try RWS Superdomes tomorrow but any advice would be appreciated because this is really pissing me off to be honest. Cheers Sam Quote Link to post
ferretfinder 20
Sound like your scope no good like its moving every tim you shoot Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
What groupings are you getting? Are you shooting offhand, resting etc. Are you a new shooter or experianced shooter? Tony Quote Link to post
Sam H 80
Rested tried to zero at 30 yards first then dropped it down to 15 but with no more succes i am not getting any sort of group at all. Experienced shooter aswell Cheers Sam Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Unusual I saw a young shooter (11 years of age) last week printing less than an inch group with his Daystate at 35 yards. He also showed me a 50 yard card he'd shot with the same gun. I was very impressed given the little time he's been shooting. I would suggest (if you havent already done so) shooting without the silencer and adaptor, if that produces a grouping then add the adaptor and try again. If thats good then add the silencer again. Sometimes a clipping can show no signs on the surface that it's actually striking. It only takes a fraction of the end of a pellet skirt to make it very unstable in flight. If it's not producing a group without a silencer and adaptor, I'd have it back to the shop. You could also trying another scope, but it's unlikely to be the scope on a pcp. Tony Quote Link to post
kill zone 27
have u look down the barrel to see if its straight its hard to tell from a eye some times take it to the shop and ask them to check it out hope this helps atb Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Even a bent barrel would produce a group. The fact it is erratic points more to movement of some kind, or the already stated clipping. Is the barrel touching anything? Something in the shroud if you have one? 1 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
Have you cleaned the barrel ? Quote Link to post
Sam H 80
Yeah villaman cleaned the barrel after a while to see if that helped but it didn't looked up the barrel seems straight. I took the dogs out not long after this post because i was starting to get wound up, came home changed scope for an SMK 4X28 i had spare and with the little light left fired afew shots and the pellets are now getting onto an A4 piece of paper. I'm going to examine the scope it originally had on but at a glance the rings are screwed right down on the tube so that there's no gap at all! Hopefully i will be able to get a hunting size group with the right pellet. Can anyone recommend a pellet for these old guns? Cheers Sam Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Try a domed pellet they tend to give best accuracy. Aa field 4.51,4.52 head sizes, jsb 4.51,4.52,4.53. Then there's superfield ,superdomes in diffrent headsizes. Crosman prems. H&n , they are the top pellets to try. Google pellet perfect, or perfect pellet..they do sample packs. Atb Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
hi sounds like your scope rings may have crushed the scope? you may need a new scope? take the silencer off,and give it a gentle tap on the table,to see if any lead debris comes out? Also move your silencer a quarter of a turn and take one shot, then repeat this for three more shots, this will show if its clipping. use the pellet which groups the tightest only way to find out if the barrle is bent, which i think it isnt,is take it off (if you can) and roll it on a flat surface (like a glass table) if it wobbles its bent get a new barrle. i hope some of this help? Having bought the gun second hand from a gunshop do you think i will be able to get some money back if the scope that came with it is broken? Quote Link to post
nangell 50
if it was me i would try shooting without silencer on and test it over crono Quote Link to post
Sam H 80
Thanks for everyone's help but i have decided to take the gun back to the shop and ask for my money back. What are my rights as a consumer? I have only owned the gun one full day and the shop was shut today. Is it reasonable to ask for my money back? Cheers Sam 1 Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
If it's grouping like a shotty then there's something seriously not right somewhere. I wouldn't think it would be a pellet problem as you would be able to get better even with poorly matched pellet. You could buy every pellet under the sun and still not get there if it's a problem with the rifle. How many shots did he fire over the chrono? I would do a string 1st to check for consistency. If the power is up and down then this could cause such inconsistency. I wouldn't mess about with it if it's as bad as that. Take it back and get him to do a 20 shot string over the chrono Quote Link to post
