iana 25
I want to clean inside the barrel of my S410. What would you recommend the best cleaning products. For my rf I simply use a snake pull through which does the trick but on the AA it's a bit more tricky. Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
Ballistol is as good as anything and is also great for protecting exterior wood and metalwork. For a proper clean use a pull through. I use a soft plastic brush for loosening everything up and then use Ballistol with a pull through with small pieces of cloth. I wouldn't soak the cloth....just a small amount and keep pulling it through until the cloths are clean. Then use some dry cloths for removing any excess oil. Don't worry about accuracy immediately after cleaning as it may take 30 or so pellets to re-lead the barrel Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Although I have an SA80 barrel brush, what I used to do was get a length of fishing line or string, loop it at one end, push it down the barrel until the loop comes out of the breech. Then tear a strip of tissue or a baby wipe (or similar) put it half through the loop, then pull through. Repeat until satisfied, using clean strips. Easy as that and it works a treat and dirt cheap too Tony 3 Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
i just use a napier power pull through kit. it goes down the barrel easier than fishing line as its thick wire with a weight on the end .. less fiddly. use the patches you get with it.. i think there made from lint? DO NOT spray oil into your barrel or your gun will smoke like a F**king chimney for ages and ages, trust me i leared the hard way. also a brush is good for getting the Sh*t out of there faster but if your going from muzzle towards the breach be carefull none of it enters the insides of your gun, your supposed to go from breach to barrel but i guess you would have to strip your rifle down almost completey to do that. alll the best pal. Buster321c 1,010
i would recommend that unless its loosing accuracy , dont bother . 2 Quote Link to post
iana 25
Accuracy is fine. But after reading posts about cleaning pellets ect I was just wanting to clean the barrel/ clean some pelllets and see what the results are. Did read somewhere about a solvent cleaner for barrels? AirgunGuy 362
If it's shooting fine then best leave alone. It's only really if accuracy starts to go or when changing pellets Edited October 3, 2012 by AirgunGuy Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
There is no point in cleaning a barrel that's shooting fine . You can clean your pellets , yes , but unless the barrel is shooting all over the place don't bother . That said , looks like you've decided to do it anyway , so you'll need at least 50 pellets to re lead the barrel before it shoots ' normal' again . 1 Quote Link to post
iana 25
Based on all the advice on here il leave the barrel alone for now and just stick to the pellet cleaning. Thanks all. Quote Link to post
Tron 173
I have found that the felt bore cleaning pellets are a waste of time and money. you shoot one through and if you check it out there is hardly any lead on it. However, I have found by loading a pellet then a bore felt topped off with another pellet the sqeezing into the rifling lands of the back pellet makes the felt one really come out black as the ace of spades! repeat that three times and the bore is spotless. HOWEVER REMOVE YOUR MODERATOR BEFORE YOU START. Edited October 5, 2012 by Tron Quote Link to post
hotshot2me 31
As Airgun Guy as said Ballistol is also good for Lubing your Pellets after cleaning, i have used this for some time on all my guns and Pellets and its cheap here's a link: Dave http://www.ballistoluk.co.uk/acatalog/Aerosol_Ballistol.html#aB2170 Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Accuracy is fine. But after reading posts about cleaning pellets ect I was just wanting to clean the barrel/ clean some pelllets and see what the results are. Did read somewhere about a solvent cleaner for barrels? Probably, but barrel cleaning is for guns that use a powder for propellant that leave a residue of burnt powder and salts in the barrel. This left overs attract moisture and cause corrosion, that is why rifles and shotgun barrels get cleaned. Air rifles do not use any corrosive chemicals and just have lead forced through their bore - lead does not attract moisture from the atmosphere that creates a corrosive acid and so they do not need cleaning. Every pellet you fire scours the bore for you, leaving a trace of lead from its own skirt as a barrel liner. Leave it alone. The process of dragging things down the rifle bore can do more harm than good. 1 Quote Link to post
Tron 173
I am with you and Buster on this one, I didnt like to say "Leave well alone" because many shooters believe in order not to miss they must keep cleaning the rifling in their barrels. I see now you can buy Rifling Paste, Rifling burnisher, and other money spinners, that in all probability will damage the barrel, not improve it. as Accuspell stated their is no need to carry out such cleaning, in fact most people who do so allways advise after such work-- To put plenty of lead through it so it builds up a lead layer??. Erh arent they just replacing what they have taken out?. Quote Link to post
