outing with the youngens

Recommended Posts

Today I decided to take my newest additions and the dog out for the second time today, for a few hours, just to see how they would fare, and I must say, I was very pleased with there performance.

I started with a six holer on top of a paddock, not really expecting to bolt anything to be honest. However after netting up, and putting the 2 jills to ground, within seconds, I had my first bolt. It all went a bit quite after that, So I started to take nets up, when I had a second bolt, with my pole cat appearing shortly afterwards. I decided to box the 2 jills up, and move on.

After a walk across a couple of smaller paddocks, I came across my second warren, which was located in a filed with al-pacas in. Along side this ancient warren was a chicken pen, as I got closer a rabbit darted of its seat and dived underneathe the chicken coop, as i walked around, 2 more rabbits ran out the pen and down the warren, suddenly another rabbit broke cover and darted across the pen and ran straight into the wire fencing, my dog was bang on it, and held it there untill i could get an arm to it.

I proceeded to net up the warren, and chucked the pole cat down, and by god it was like thunder, within minutes, I had another 2 rabbits. another rabbit bolted further along, but managed to kick the net of.

However I was asked to stop short, as the farmer had to round up the alpacas, so i started to collect the nets up, and yep, as sods law would have it, 5 more bolted. I had a quick chat with the farmer, and wants me to come back and do some of the banks, but there is defonitely a good days sport waiting to be had there.
