buster gonads 862
Iam looking to get a small lurcher to aid my terrier while out mooching/rabbiting, was thinking along the lines of Beddy X Whippet but iam going to kennel them both together and its been mentioned to me that houseing a terrier based lurcher with a terrier might not be the best thing to do, i,ve never had kennel fights before houseing terriers and lurchers together but i havent had a running dog with any terrier blood in it before, right here goes, is anyone on here running whippet/collie X whippet, if so whats your oppion of them, i dont see them around, is there a reason for this apart from beddy X whippets being more readly available, regards, buster. mighty celt 1,003
have seen a couple of whippet/colliexwhippet out ferreting mooching and lamping and they were first class rabbiting dogs had speed, good feet, brains, good coat, very agile.the ones i saw were 3/4whippet 1/4collie and were ideal rabbit catchers 1 Quote Link to post

jcm 2,327
Tbh mate I wouldn't be to bothered about the cross aslong as the dog is bred from good working parents, the are a lot of purpose bred rabbing launchers out there to chose from. However I have seen straigh half x beddy whippets work with terrier and they are first class moching dogs great nose, brains and plenty heart Quote Link to post
gnipper 7,006
My mate runs a collie whippet x whippet grey and he would be ideal for what you wanted. Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,829
As said i would go for a 3/4 whippet or a bed or collie cross whippet x whip/greyhound, should have a little more speed and be more versatile than the 1/2 bred. Quote Link to post

I agree fella, got to be 3/4 longdog, but i need to keep the size down to 20-22inch max as i know from experience its easy,er to get and keep permission if your dog looks like it cant bother anything bigger than a rabbit , buster. 1 Quote Link to post

buster gonads 862
I'm biased but,not thought a bout a pure whippet? I have johnny and i could get one very easy but a 3/4 cross would be more suited to were i work my dogs, i want somthing with better feet and coat than a pure whippet and hopefully more brain and nose, incidently the best feet i,v had on any running dog have come from the deerhound cross,s, well worth looking at if your working ruff ground, regards, buster.
