BS40liam 203
Just wondering if anybody ever gets permision to ferret or even other methods of hunting/pest contol on national trust land? I ask because I a trip to the inlaws caravan a few weeks back which is surounded by fields owned by the national trust and they are absolutly heaving with rabbits! I was tempted to ask a ranger that was patrolling about maybe doing some ferreting some time over the winter once the site is closed for the season but was in a rush so passed on the oppotunity which led me to ask on here what people thought? Tug 168
I know someone that ferrets on NT land, but he is an employee so it's one of his jobs. Quote Link to post

BS40liam 203
There's two cottages right at the bottom end which are used as holiday homes and that's it! Think I will ask when I go back down in 3weeks time. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Ask on a local level Don`t just call the NT, use the locals, rangers , area manager etc. If the land is rented, the tenant can give permission to control rabbits as well. 1 Quote Link to post
Froudy 40
I ferret on a fewnational trust places and shoot, some of the trusts have wardens who do it, so I would ask and see what happens ATB Froudy Quote Link to post
BS40liam 203
The people who own the caravan site is more than happy for me to ferret there once the site is closed for winter as the rabbits run and burrow on there land also so its doing them a favour but I nedd to talk to the ranger and have a chat with him. Don't want to be greedy and take massive numbers just the odd few every couple of months that we're down there and like I said the place is heaving big time so if I get the permision it maybe a chance to invite a few other lads and get to no a few people atb lads Quote Link to post

Atb I have a special licence from the NT to ferret a fair area, it is pest control and there are limitations in place and you need valid insurance etc. Edited September 18, 2012 by Sirius 1 Quote Link to post
BS40liam 203
Thanks for that bit of info sirius, do you need proper pest control insurance and lisence or isit just some sort of insurance like BASC for instance? Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,923
It's a special pest control insurance mate, not sure if basc would cover it but you could always phone them and ask Quote Link to post
Tug 168
BASC and CA both cover you , as long as it's for sport and not reward. 1 Quote Link to post
