What a Lakeland should look like ?

Was having a root around a box,an came across one of My old Cigarette cards..Senior Service..30s ,40s..

Lakelands ,this was always my idea of a Lakie/Fell..looking back at some of the breeds on these cards...How type has Change.

The Lakie,seems alot haven't :thumbs:

Theres some nice books out at present Tam, of which you may know, regarding the Lakeland fell packs... loads of great pics in them. In certain kennels old strains live on, and similar types are found today working the rocks and earths. i enjoy reading up about the old days, if only we could all go back a hundred years!! All the best

Got a slight gripe about your topic's title though (not a jab at you)... ''what a lakeland should look like'' As that implies looks mean something..the lakeland terriermen I know personally wont consider looks, but do consider size, coat, and obviously ability first and foremost. The ammount of different looking terriers in their kennels shows that typey lookers are not the order of the day. Some of them tiny wee things, others with heads like aligators... what they look like today matters not. What they work like, matters a lot.

spot on the lakie,s are just like patt,s/ russels they come in different size,s colours etc work ability is most important factor

It was Just ,MY minds eye what a Lakeland Looks like..Easy Title ..thought it would catch more than "CIGARETE CARDS " that's all,mine have been all shapes an sizes .but Have all Worked..but it is a bonus if it's pleasing to the eye .. :thumbs:
