Ferret x Stoat

Recommended Posts

Right, I have heard a few whispers of people trying to sell ferrets which supposedly have stoat in their breeding, personally I think its a sales ploy and mostly bollocks

I have always believed that although they are both Mustelids, they are differnt enough not to be able to produce young and IF they did it would be a 'Mule' infertile the same as if a ferret bred with a american Mink?

I am pretty sure I am correct on this? Or does anyone know different?

Stoat x Ferret? Load of old bollocks IMO..

Yep thats what I thought...

I believed a european mink could breed with a ferret, but if a american mink did (a very slim chance) the produce if nay would be infertile. Everydays a school day.

It's daft mate. People assume that all mustelids can interbreed because they are simalar shape, but some of the crosses that people say they have are like a dog/fox hybrid - they can't happen. The mustelids are the most diverse group of the caniforma subgroup and while some of the most closely related among them can crossbreed, the majority can't. People may as well claim they have got an otter cross badger..

They are "Stoatally" different, any claims of this crossbreeding taking place can be refuted "Weasily", and dont let anyone "Badger" you into believing otherwise. This thing gets me annoyed and "Otter" under the collar.

(I have 3 x ferret kits going free to a good home absolutely stoat free lineage but their grandfather was a wolverine pm me if you want one )
