Sherlock 42
P5HEN, Not only can you lose your licence but your vehicle can be confiscated and anything else the police decide assisted you in the persute of the hare or deer, ie your clothing ,watch ,phone ,Tom Tom,nets any tools in the vehicle. It would not surprise me if they also had the power to enter your home to check your freezer and your computer or laptop. I can,t understand some of the folk on here bragging about what they have caught and killed ,and it's always pre ban of course. Then there's the folk who post pics via photo bucket or Flickr these are all time dated or should I say they are on the cameras that I use. The police the press the BBC and the Antis are at war with hunters and field sports in general don't give them ammunition to work with. Finally don't think your PM,s aren't being read either we live in a police state. Quote Link to post
Guest Leveller
Millet there are some packs that will have that many in kennels but not take them all out hunting on the same day if you're doing 4 plus days a week when you take into account puppies hot bitches, whelping, injuries etc that isn't an unrealistic amount to keep but the majority would have half that or less and could be looked after by one or two people easily. With regards to feeding well that's where the flesh round comes into it's own some hunts charge farmers a small fee to pick up deadstock some do it for free either way that's what the majority of packs feed on , not all but a large number will. Obviously you have everything else that goes with running a bussines, electricity, rent, vehicle, maintenance, staff wages, vet bills, etc it can get quite costly hence the need for subscriptions to cost what they do, most hunts also have supporters clubs and hold lots of fundraising events through the summer months, hold point to point races, terrier and lurcher shows, open evenings/days you get the picture a lot of work goes into the day to day running of a pack of hounds and a hell of a lot goes into funding it. It doesn't stop there though the country also needs managing so you need to put jumps and gates in, plant coverts and lay coverts (pre ban) I could go on and on 2 Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
Its difficult enough now to run anything the majority of dogs are bred for and so many of us in the not to distant past could do legally, you have to cut your cloth now to fit and blend in,going in to open flat countryside to get a decent gallop isn,t the smartest option, yet lads have always gone where quarry resides and the runs are guaranteed. Is it worth the hassle and prosecution,it was pre-ban for the less fainthearted, now with the risk of losing motors, your licence and possibly job it takes more than a not so faint heart to take your chance, fair play to the lads that risk it,at least they are still carrying the flag and not letting the establishment have it all their own way.On a more sinister note, were the Police not funded from outside sources?,some of whom campaigned for the ban.
