The opening ceromony is nothing to do with team GB, they are just another team in the world who attend it. As to the money for team GB being spent on something better, that is nonsence. Team GB is funded by the sale of the Olympic ring logo in advertising/marketing etc. It isnt funded by the government or even the lottery. Somebody coming forth and not getting a medal at the olympics, actually means that they are the fourth best athlete in the world, in their sport at that time!!
