Nice poem but the end of the day team fb is crap be glad when it's all over a waste of money in my opinion. The 25 million just for the opening ceremony could been spent on much more useful things.

.....such as the correct, though more expensive, drugs for cancer etc treatment. A more streamlined and efficient NHS, better teachers in schools, etc etc etc....

You are talking about something else. The opening ceromony is nothing to do with team GB, they are just another team in the world who attend it.

 

As to the money for team GB being spent on something better, that is nonsence. Team GB is funded by the sale of the Olympic ring logo in advertising/marketing etc. It isnt funded by the government or even the lottery.

 

Somebody coming forth and not getting a medal at the olympics, actually means that they are the fourth best athlete in the world, in their sport at that time!! Quite an acheivement I think!

the olympic games is a world tradition and a celebration to the dedication of the athletes that compete, most of whom have dedicated their entire life to attending these games. the dissapointment of not getting a medal is all to clear on their faces if they dont achieve. the standard required to get a medal is increasing every games, just to get a place in the team is a testiment to their dedication. i for one support them all the way medals or no medals, i even watched the 3 day eventing
