Now I know feck all about asils,

But PJ, how do you think one of your asils would fair living up in Canada on a teather year round?

Cheers fd.

i think one of mine would fair just as well as an american english bird. an imported one from say pakistan obviously wouldnt last long. but a few generations in a colder climate culls the ones who cant hack it and leaves you with only hardy birds to breed with.

i have to agree with courseadog that english are a lot hardierb then oriental birds.

fair enough you will get the odd oriental which are hardy, but overall english birds dont seem to get as many diseases, handle to cold a lot better etc.

i have english, and wouldnt think nothing to letting them live out and roost in the year all year round even in the coldest weather and think they would handle it ok, but i wouldnt let none of my oriental birds live out in the winter.

the hint the courseadog is from a top class line of well known pure hints.

by saying you wouldnt let your orientals live out in the winter do you mean? what i mean is what sort of inside shelter do you prefer to use in the winter?
