tegater 789
Just seen the news and can't believe what I have heard. Danny Doyle who is organising the opening ceremony for the OG, has 27 million to spend on it! I don't know about you, but I think that is a waist of good money. In theory I support the games, but let's spend the money on better training facilities, or some good causes. In this time of austerity, there must be better ways of spending the dosh! scothunter 12,609
Let's spend it on getting the youth a f*****g job! Or throwing it towards getting street lights put on at night! Bet f*****g London isn't on a black out after a certain time.
terryd 8,925
yea they think nothing of throwing money at that type of thing. Should just bung it at the nhs and save some lives or at least pro long some. This type of story is the norm http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/feb/02/cancer-drug-too-expensive-nhs
scothunter 12,609
Oh and yes, it will generate a few quid, but you think it will re distributed fairly up and down the country? Lol it won't leave London!

London will certainly make cash.

spade 224
They're turning the stadium into the British countryside a la disney no doubt. Seen on news this morning that it's coming in under budget by about 1/2 billion quid. Original bill was about 2 1/2 billion, revised later to 9 billion so actually coming in 6 billion over. Some one got their sums massively wrong.
secretagentmole 1,701
£27,000,000 for a bit of bleeding ribbon and some scissors??? I am in the wrong game!
Born Hunter 17,909
I'm all in support of the London Olympics, more out of pride than sense. But I was shocked at the magnitude of the security/anti terrorism operation for it. There will be more British troops in London for the Olympics than fighting in Afghanistan!!! Not to mention squandrons of Typhoons at the ready, surface to air missiles, a helicopter carrier on the Thames and probably half of the special forces on stand by.......... I think the total security costs are around one Billion pounds!!!
scothunter 12,609
Oh I knew it wound be a hefty security bill, only need to look at the royal wedding And such like. After all a successfully attack on the Olympics in London. That's a terrorists wet dream.not only for the devastation, but also to make the host look weak and stupid.

OTIS COME ON DOWN Politicians arent bloody interested in the countryside normally, but then again, I dont think this is to do with the government, I think it is the olympic commitee. Yea be a right laugh to see a few hunting animals down there.
