Rake aboot 4,936
Was having a browse tonight in the dogs for sale section. I was pretty dismayed at the number of adverts posted by "Donators" with less than 20 posts to their name. I`d be uncomfartable buying from someone who has obviously joined on here just to push a pup or two. Shouldn`t there be a minimum post count so that folk have to contribute and therefore buyers have at least a little chance to see what the seller is all about. Perfect example. Not a for sale, but a for stud, This guy thought he was getting his donation money back 1000 fold.! http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/249455-working-jagd-terrier-for-stud/ or this http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/249117-saluki-x-collie-x-grey-pup-bitch-for-sale-l100/ or this http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/248817-beagle-russell-cross-harrier-hound-pups-l125/ Now I`m not saying all these sellers are dodgy... far from it, the last guy seem s genuine as he is vouched for by another user who`s been around a while. My point is, shouldn`t the seller have been around a while before selling. ATB
BigRed1 26
you can always go back to handcock if these peddlers arnt up to standard
Rake aboot 4,936
Yeh But I`ve made my choice and saw plenty that have come from him do really well, so knew what I was getting, Apart from that he doesn`t just "Appear" on here. He`s been there for 40 yrs or so. You get the chance to make an informed choice. Nice contribution to the thread by the way. Thanks for that
Chid 6,834
Well they did try a minimum post count must be about 3 yrs ago but it got changed back to not having one ... It's easy to notch up posts without contributing to the site...just go on new members and say hello to them all then on to the lurcher section and tell everyone they have a nice dog bet you could hit the 100 Mark in a day if you tried ... It's simple if you don't like the way the for sale section is ran don't look at it and certainly don't buy from it
vixen 528
i never read the dogs and livestock for sale section, as for the jagd terrier for stud in above link ....... is the working terrier quality so bad that some would actually want to pay that kinda money only from reading a post? Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Or we could have that we all pay for adverts in the livestock section this would weed out the peddlers to geniune sellers. Let face it the members who breed good dogs rarely have to put adverts up to sell them as it all on grapevine sales. I breed a fair amount good working ferrets and they are all account for without any adverts But as a leading name in the hunting world I think the site need to address members concerns over dog sales. fireman 11,468
Trouble is the chances are a thl clown will buy the dog someone is offering anyway so to be honest if your bothered about the dog your selling on here then don't sell it on here..

skycat 6,174
I've got no hard feelings about the matter one way or another because surely any buyers would do a bit of homework before buying, no matter what site, magazine, paper or advert they buy from. If you can't find out anything about the buyer, or you don't like the sound of them or their wares, then don't buy. My first ever lurcher was a rescue, my second a Hancock, and my third was from the same line I still run today. It doesn't matter what you advise a newcomer, people will buy (or not buy) what they want to buy, and learn from their own mistakes: its human nature.
