Anyone ever run this cross?

I reckon a deer/grey x sal/grey out of good working stuff could be hard to beat especially Pre ban.

Personally I would opt for a dash of collie on the deerhound side and a dash of whippet on the saluki side...

Deer/Collie/Grey x Sal/Whip/Grey

The worste dog I've seen in my life was a deer/grey x saluki/grey absolutely crap it made an average dog look shit hot next to it lolwas a waste of a slip every time it was let off. it had the temperament of a saluki, really sensitive and needed encouragment when running, serious flat feet. Which was socking as with this cross you'd think they'd be quite good. Was a plodder when it choose to run and had no gears. No sign of maturing even at 16months Couldn't jump, and when it tried it ended up with bit cuts. Wouldnt retrieve. Basically everything you don't want in a Lurcher. But as with every cross you get your good and bad this was just a shocking example but still stsy in your memory if makes any sense

The owner wasn't the most experienced but regards to feet the dog had more road work then anything just generally had bad feet. Regards to jumping he would jump but take all day doing it and when he did jump 90% of time would land on top of fence so got to the point he had to pick him over every fence, not fun with a 28-29 tts dog. He was out alot aswell 3-4 times a week on the lamp to try learn his trade but he would run when he wanted to run, was This way from first night on the lamp . Being honest I think it was a combination of the both a poor dog with a inexperienced owner to training a lurcher

i wouldnt have took that dog lamping once never mind 4 times a week when it couldnt jump/retrieve a dog of that height should clear any fence sounds like a confidence thing if he took allday to try and jump it why not put a old coat on the fence to stop the cuts why would he try and learn it its trade [lamping] when even the basics were not in place sounds like he tryed to run before he could walk not having ago at you born to run but i still think bad handling played a big part in the dog being like it was

I agree with you mate to some degree the owner was a big part but I do know he tried all the usualls to get him to jump and to know avail I know he tried the coat thing but the mutt was so brain dead he wouldnt jump with it there. He also done the usual with a board to get to his food but didn't work. It used to do my nut when he brought the dog. like I said before I truly believe it was a combination of both.
