Taking photos of police officers beating a guy up, and refusing to get down off a bus shelter and give them my camera memory card.

that would be a different matter altogether I reckon, best thing to do then.....leg it!

Carrying a catapult by itself would (i imagine) be classed as an offensive weapon if they wanted to be a pain in the arse about it.

Depends if you had a good excuse for having one on you and what you were doing when and where you were stopped. If your trying to shoot stuff with it and dont have permission i would imagine it would be just classed as pursuit of game or similar

the only reason i ask is when i take my lads out i've 9/10 got half a dozen lead and the catty in my pocket, id think if your on land with no permission then you'd be hit with a poaching game act. but even though its not a fire arm / air rifle could you still be on the same as armed trespassing, or would there be a different legislation

Depends I suppose on the mood of who ever stopped you and what you were doing at the time. There would definitely be something they could sting you with poaching/offensive weapon related whether it would be a serious as if it was an air rifle i dont know.

If your just on a foot path having the odd pot shot at the odd rabbit in a proper safe rural location, I cant imagine that anyone would be too bothered to be honest. But then areas/landowners/the public may vary in attitude!

It's nothing like as serious as getting caught with a rifle on you. You could just say you're going to practice hitting cans on a wall with it, as far as I'm aware there's no law to say you can't have a catapult on you. Most people who are off fishing would have one on them! Also, they'd have to have a reason to be searching you in the first place.

All depends on the circumstances though, you would have to be very unlucky/stupid for someone to see you using one in most rural locations. You would have to be caught in the act. If the police want to be a twat about stuff though then they will class it as an offensive weapon as they would in certain circumstances with all sorts of stuff. Like ideations example I have heard of the police trying to do people for offensive weapon for having a screwdriver in the boot of their car

I seriously can't understand the mentality of a rozzer that intentionally tries to arrest someone for something they blatantly haven't done, can you? If they stopped a young lad on his way into town for a night out, and he had a screwdriver in his pocket, then yes, obviously it's not illegal to have a screwdriver but you can see why they might try to prove that he was potentially going to use it as a weapon, even though they can't prove it. But when someone is just driving along why on earth would they want to frame him when it's blatantly obvious he wasn't using it as a weapon. They really are silly little Hitlers some of them! :censored:

Who knows? maybe just took a dislike, I think to be fair the example of the guy with a screwdriver in his boot was most likely being a gob shite at the time and so the copper wanted to get him for something and after speeding and breathalising failed that was the next thing that came to mind lol
