Depends if you had a good excuse for having one on you and what you were doing when and where you were stopped. There would definitely be something they could sting you with poaching/offensive weapon related whether it would be a serious as if it was an air rifle i dont know. If your just on a foot path having the odd pot shot at the odd rabbit in a proper safe rural location, I cant imagine that anyone would be too bothered to be honest. If they stopped a young lad on his way into town for a night out, and he had a screwdriver in his pocket, then yes, obviously it's not illegal to have a screwdriver but you can see why they might try to prove that he was potentially going to use it as a weapon, even though they can't prove it. But when someone is just driving along why on earth would they want to frame him when it's blatantly obvious he wasn't using it as a weapon. They really are silly little Hitlers some of them!
