Well i had a good day the showing went well and it was good to see a working lurcher get the overall lurcher. What i would say is that maybe it should be done the same way as moria free into the dogshow or small fee and if you want to go in to the fair then you have to pay .

firstly there should be no working class at any show because that means the rest of the classes r not working--- if they are not working they should not be there unless they r pups. gamefairs r for hunting minded people not people who just like the look of a running dog r terrier r rag racing the whole thing is fooked

Thanks for letting me know how to run Game Fairs and terrier & lurcher shows - I am only the person who launched the first sustainable Irish Game Fair in 1979 and who agreed to host one of the first major terrier & lurcher shows in 1980! Our aim is to be inclusive and encourage as many people as possible enjoy their dogs.

you mean so you can enjoy their money, lets face it you wouldnt sit at a hole where theres no rat

U cany please some people there was some aruments on the day about looking re runs in the racing because someones dog got bump the whole way big deal my 18month old pup was in a final with massive dogs an he was bumped an put off but who do u complaine to as it can't be stoped I was cross yesterday I've calmed down over it as it can put him off but over all I enjoyed the show an thot judges done well

Flash,

This is a difficult one. It must be disappointing to prepare your dog only to have its chance ruined by another dog. As you know this happens in greyhound racing and there is no re run.

But you have another chance at very good prizes in our 'Golden' 50th Fair at Shanes Castle on the 7th & 8th July.

ALBERT WHY CANT YOU MAKE A LIST OF THESE DOGS AND REFUSE THEM ENTRY, MY YOUNG BITCH HAS TO GO TO THE VETS THIS MORNING ONE OF THEM FIGHTING GREYHOUND FROM THE SOUTH NEAR KILLED,ATTACKED HER BOWLED HER OVER, WHEN SHE WAS RUNNING BRILLANT AND ONE OF THE FEW CHASING THE LURE,NOT NICE FOR MY YOUNG SON AND DAUGHTER TO SEE.AND DANGEROUS FOR THE OTHER DOGS

Difficult to control as I said you even see it happening in regulated greyhound racing. In my opinion a lot of it may be due to dogs not being trained to chase a lure. Would welcome opinions on this but after how many incidents would you ban a dog?

if you cant control it dont do it ,simple as

I think any reasonable person would accept a bit of jostling for position between dogs chasing a lure but to me, a dog that is overly aggressive and more interested in doing the other dogs needs to be told to stay out of it.

The Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 20th July 2025
Doagh Equestrian is situated on the beautiful Antrim coast in the village of Doagh, Co Antrim. This was a new venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day and the ideal spot for   last Sundays Show.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border. Some people came as far away as Limerick and Drogheda with families and dogs in tow. Our good canine folk love a good dog show in the summer and a chat with like minded people. They certainly were not disappointed at the Keep er Lit show.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his country sports stand, with everything needed in the hunting fraternity.
Some very tasty burgers were available on site and an Equestrian shop with great discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into that shop, as I was like a child in a toy shop with to much to choose from.
The weather was glorious all day and at times to warm. As usual the raffle generated a great buzz around the field with some great prizes on offer.
The show started with the racing first at approximately 12.30

      Congratulations to all above winners.
And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges and their ring stewards on the day,on behalf of the Keep er Lit Team for a job well done.
Strong Dog Judge : Gareth Barnett
      Lurcher Judge       : Gerard Melaugh
      Whippet Judge      : Colin Maguire
      Terrier Judge         : Martin Breen
      Pets Judge             : Gail Ross
Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
The racing was carried out as usual to perfection by The Mc Grath Racing Club Carlow. These people have many years experience in the Canine world both in showing and racing and their input helps to alleviate the pressure on the show organizer on the day. A job well done Biddy and team.
Some lovely photographs were taken on the day by various people, and no doubt these will be up on the site shortly.
And Finally, Finally, they say behind every good man is a good woman and Leigh Thompson along with Paddy Gibson, you both definitely fitted into that category. Your show was run with impeccable organisation. It was evident on the day a lot of hard work and sleepless nights was put into  this now annual Show. Leigh and Paddy you pulled out all the stops on the day and produced a top class show in a top class venue. Well done and a credit to you both.
I am Looking forward to more of the same in 2026. Thank you for the memories. To we meet again God Bless.
