firstly there should be no working class at any show because that means the rest of the classes r not working--- if they are not working they should not be there unless they r pups. gamefairs r for hunting minded people not people who just like the look of a running dog r terrier r rag racing the whole thing is fooked

but my granda was'nt when my granny arrived home with £350 worth of garden furniture. lol

I don't know anyone involved except Barrie Wade (HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARRIE ) but the way the Economics of shows in general are going we will be LUCKY to have any left in 5 years and in many cases its the

YM,   Your dog was like yourself - perfectly behaved!

Just wondering albert, I wasnt there but from what ive read today it comes across as if some or all dogs were not muzzled for racing??

If thats the case why not?

they were muzzled by when theres a dogs twice ur dogs weighjt trying to kill ur dog instead of chasing the lure,it becomes dangerous ,my bitch got flipped onto her back and in to the air 3 times i dont no the names of many of thes dogs or people but i would like to find out who they are,to try and get them barred at these events.

so if any one knows the names of persistent offneders please add there name and dogs name below-------

surely they wouldnt be in anymore danger than lamping them on real quarry they take there fair share of knocks and flips while chasing them

when to f@%k were you ever out lamping and a animal the size of a cow jump on ur dogs back ,and try to kill it true a muzzle you clampit, my bitch is a proper working dog she is fit to take nocks and bumps but she did not disserve what she got, had her at the vet to day shes home now no broken bones but still not fit to get out of the dog box, medacam, and rest ,looks like she will miss the next few shows

Thanks for letting me know how to run Game Fairs and terrier & lurcher shows - I am only the person who launched the first sustainable Irish Game Fair in 1979 and who agreed to host one of the first major terrier & lurcher shows in 1980! Our aim is to be inclusive and encourage as many people as possible enjoy their dogs.

it was a pile of shite young man worst show ive been to was glad i only took the young terrier down never put him in anything but the whole day was poor

What a dreadful example to set to a young enthusiast. With top prizes only bettered in Ireland by Shanes or Birr, a top terrier judge brought in from England - what on earth could you see wrong with that? I would suspect its because you didn't have the balls to enter or you entered and didn't win.

. Young Man too his beating like a 'man' when he must have been very disappointed when his dog was pipped in the last few yards by a very fast little terrier with an amazing final kick. I think he could teach many about sportsmanship and I hope he continues to enjoy his dog and competing.

You meanwhile appear a totally poor sportsman who sounds off behind an alias. Barrie Wade is a fine terrier man and I would suspect he has forgotten more about terriers than you will ever know.

Everyone of course is entitled to their opinion but perhaps you would let 'Young Man' know how credible your opinion is. Now since you voiced your opiniion of the judging the show and virtually everything else I would challenge you to let us know :

1. What shows you have organised?

2. What top prizes you have won with lurchers, terriers and whippets?

3. When you have judged whippets, lurchers and terriers?

Albertj

young man like albertj has asked me to explain i never said your prizes where'nt the best never said your terrier judge was bad it was more your lurcher judge alot of people thought was poor ive never organised a show because i wouldn't be annoyed with people crying about there pet not winning the working class won a few prizes afew years ago mostly working class with a working dog and i havent judged a show never been asked to and if i was i wouldn't do it not my thing now thats cleared up as for not having the balls to enter or i entered him and he didn't win lol

Hogie,

Fair enough you stepped up to the plate for my challenge. I respect that but your first comment ' it was a pile of shite young man worst show ive been to was glad i only took the young terrier down never put him in anything but the whole day was poor ' and damned everything on the basis of not liking the lurcher judge!

Alberj

and just to clear it up i dont have a problem in general with rose but think the judge should have experience in all the classes that there judging plus alot of her friends seemed to win alot and thats why i wouldn't be a good judge ive no experience in whippets or saluki crosses so i wouldn't agree to judge them i thought it was poor albertj last year it was a better show but suppose that might of had something to do with the filth watching everthing

i started 3 years ago but the dog i had was killed in the field so i just dont get the whole thing about risking a family loved dog for a stupid rabbit or anything else i havent said anything about what dogs won the show as i stated thats the judges pick

i dont pretend or mouth of about how good my dog was as it was for me only all the big talk of what dogs on here do seems to make up for the loser who own them :bye:

How the heck do I brag about winning?have I ever came on here and bragged about what I've won?don't think so.if they win they win if they don't (which mostly happens) fair dos aslng as they come off safe I don't care.if I want to breed a litter that's my choice.they're my dogs aren't they?and as I have stated many times dad has nothing to do with the dogs.he has one bitch that's it.the rest are mine bar my sisters bitch

Flash3241

The hairy one was my first cross beddy / grey. Last year I picked up.a second and a third. This year we were a bit luckier. Many a time I've walked away with nowt.

As for being friends of the judge. I have only met Rose once before yesterday.

The Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 20th July 2025
Doagh Equestrian is situated on the beautiful Antrim coast in the village of Doagh, Co Antrim. This was a new venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day and the ideal spot for   last Sundays Show.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border. Some people came as far away as Limerick and Drogheda with families and dogs in tow. Our good canine folk love a good dog show in the summer and a chat with like minded people. They certainly were not disappointed at the Keep er Lit show.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his country sports stand, with everything needed in the hunting fraternity.
Some very tasty burgers were available on site and an Equestrian shop with great discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into that shop, as I was like a child in a toy shop with to much to choose from.
The weather was glorious all day and at times to warm. As usual the raffle generated a great buzz around the field with some great prizes on offer.
The show started with the racing first at approximately 12.30
Here are the Racing and Showing Results

      Congratulations to all above winners.
And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges and their ring stewards on the day,on behalf of the Keep er Lit Team for a job well done.
Strong Dog Judge : Gareth Barnett
      Lurcher Judge       : Gerard Melaugh
      Whippet Judge      : Colin Maguire
      Terrier Judge         : Martin Breen
      Pets Judge             : Gail Ross
Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
The racing was carried out as usual to perfection by The Mc Grath Racing Club Carlow. These people have many years experience in the Canine world both in showing and racing and their input helps to alleviate the pressure on the show organizer on the day. A job well done Biddy and team.
Some lovely photographs were taken on the day by various people, and no doubt these will be up on the site shortly.
And Finally, Finally, they say behind every good man is a good woman and Leigh Thompson along with Paddy Gibson, you both definitely fitted into that category. Your show was run with impeccable organisation. It was evident on the day a lot of hard work and sleepless nights was put into  this now annual Show. Leigh and Paddy you pulled out all the stops on the day and produced a top class show in a top class venue. Well done and a credit to you both.
I am Looking forward to more of the same in 2026. Thank you for the memories. To we meet again God Bless.
