CLONDULANE COUNTRY FAIR SATURDAY 9TH JUNE 2012

Recommended Posts

I,d like to thank everyone who came and supported the show again this year and made it another outstanding success, A big thank you to all the judges who did a first class and through job, I only wish I'd more time to socialise with you but that's the down side of being the show organiser. Lot's of cracking dogs in all classes even the judges commented on how high of a standard the dogs were. The stickmaking competition was very well supported with 125 entries. The only disappointment for me was that we couldn't run the digging competition as only one team entered.

Thanks again and I hope everyone had a great day.

I will post the photos as soon as I get them.

A sample of the trophies and rosettes up for grabs on saturday.

Thanks lads just back from the field and things are looking good for the morning. It'd be great to see the IWTF at the show.

just got back to wales a few hours ago from judging the lurcher show and gotta say what a cracking show. well organised,,brilliant craic with everyone and austin and his mates put hospitality to the max for us.also the irish couldnt have been more helpfull round the show one complete stranger even letting my mate use their phone to tel home because ours were all flat.on to the dogs and gotta say what a nice stamp of lurcher in ireland, overall the classes were much more competetive than over here with lots of classy lurchers in nearly every class. looking round the show the wheaten seems to figure highly in the irish lurcher scene and in the second generation seems to throw a very nice type or running dog.also there were some cracking bull breeds both pure and crosses on show seems strange seeing the big bulls with cropped years and nobody batting an eyelid. the dog pulling events also pulled in a good crowd and lots of entries and was run with military presicion.all in all a brilliant day out in a cracking and well run show and well worth a visit next year whether you live over there or in the uk .and will end with a massive thumbs up for this show.                  .well done austin and his teamalso big thank you to hiis wife for doing excellant job stewarding for me on a long and hot day .

Thanks John I'm really glad you enjoyed your visit to Clondulane. It was a pleasure to meet yourself Jill and Stat and yourself and Stat did a top class job in judging the show. As I've said my only regret is that I couldn't spend as much time with ye as I'd have liked, trish who to be honest isn't really a dog person had a great time working with you and says you're a proper gentleman.Hopefully we'll meet up in the future and have a good chat. Thanks again.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
