Just got back with the kids from a Mooch round the woods in the soaking rain , we went way off the Beaten track exploring and my lad found these, any ideas what they could be?

interesting, could you put something next to one to show a sense of scale/size.

first one looks like a damaged muntjac skull. te second indentation under the eye socket is a dead giveaway. second one, dunno. not a pig. might be a roe deer.

bloody hell... i was down the pub this afternoon, sat in my mates van, ID'ing his collection of skulls

One's totaly different than the other and both alot larger than Rabbit or a feral cat! I have a couple of Roe skulls here and they're nothing like them although about the same size :hmm:.....

Jasper; I found a bona fide Muntjac skull =, on line, and erased the bottom jaw, so it more closely matches what we're seeing here. I can go back and get it's exact measurements if ye like too. How's this compare to either of them? Bearing in mind this one's perfect and your two have lost some of the lighter, nasal bone:

Jasper - you're in norfolk. i'm in norfolk. now, we both know, one thing we have in abundance here is sodding muntjacs. heaving with the feckers. (can you tell i'm not keen on them? )

that first skull is definitely a muntjac. i would bet my mother on it.

here's one from my garden, i just popped out to get some pics of it for you (and got covered in nettle rash into the bargain. how do those bloody things grow so quick?!?)

note the ridges on the skull running abov the eye socket, and the second hole in front of the eye socket -

that's the scent gland. dead giveaway.
