BEARINATOR 2,928
Got a call out this morning so text my mate about going out, he agreed but wouldn't be able to use his terrier as it's in sick bay. Loaded my 2 terriers and the old greyhound up in the jeep with the gear and headed out to meet the keeper. When we arrived we had a coffee and bacon sandwich off the keepers wife then headed to where the pair had been seen. First sett (a 3 holer) was stinking of fox so put the little bitch in and she was straight on it , after about 5 minutes the first one bolted and my mate shot it, a nice sized dog fox . Then we went searching for it's mate and found a 5 holer, so sent the dog in and got a mark just over a meter. A bit digging work was needed and when we broke through the keeper shot a good sized vixen and it's litter. They looked about a month old so would of done some damage to the poults shortly. The keeper was well happy after that and gave us signed foxing permission and made us another coffee. Whilst we were having our coffee my old greyhound bitch Glory put a rabbit up out of the bushes and caught it in fine style right in front of the keepers wife . a 3/4 grown rabbit which done for her bait . The keeper asked if I ran the rabbits as well and I said "yes as it keeps the dogs fit", so he gave us a letter stating we can control the vermin on the land . So I've got another 10,000 acres of permission to keep an eye on and combined with my other permission I think I've got too much land but me and my mate will do our best to keep on top of it. 1 Quote Link to post
