Keeping Hobs together

Recommended Posts

Although I have worked ferrets for over 25yrs, I have always kept a single hob and a number of Jills. However, I am debating keeping more than one hob this summer and was wondering if any of you firstly keep hobs housed together over the summer and secondly have you experienced any problems with this?

I just want to avoid any pitfalls.......

I kept four jills and two hobs together since i got them as kits them the hobs started molesting the jills who weren't in season ,then i separated them and they started on each other . Its easier keeping them separated till September and its just a wee bit extra work cleaning and feeding them .

I've got 4 hobs housed together in agood sized court, apart from a bit of a scuffle the odd times, it's all good. Used to have 5, but one was super dominant and kicked feck into the others.

yep ive got two hobs,, there in the court in winter with the jills,,, but come summer there together in a big cage,, they can squable ,,, and the bigger one keeps trying to bum the smaller one,, but its charactor building for him

in a few weeks the hobs will be back in the court whilst the jills will be in seperate cages with litters,, what i have found is the bigger the space you give the hobs the better,,, but theres always some hobs that will never be able to go with other hobs
