bryanm45 787
It's a numbers game mate if you put him behind enough bunnys he will eventually get it let him rag a few ferreted bunnys and if you've got somebody you can go out with that has a good dog double him up on them he'll soon get what you want, sounds as if he is keen to chase he needs to see the reward at the end. Keep him keen and put him behind some bunnys ATB with him mate Bryan. Quote Link to post

shephound 19
not being smart mate but where im from thats nothing im out most nights it takes him an age to catch them 1 or 2 mins at least so please hold back on the smartness every tread these days seems to have it that was for leegreen all the best shep Edited March 10, 2012 by shephound Quote Link to post

If your lucky enough to get that amount of game and your dogs not catching them as you want at the age of three, then you have the wrong dog mate. Anyway 300 rabbits is good haul, well done for that. And if my dog took 1-2 minutes to catch a rabbit, my tally would be about 0. 2 Quote Link to post
stabba 10,745
Whats his catch to chase ratio mate?? 1 out of 2? 1 out of 3 etc etc ?? Quote Link to post
beast 1,884
just stick with him sounds lke he will get there. dont just pass him on. Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
Sounds like he's doing well to be honest for a first season dog. Sounds like you just have too keep throwing rabbits at him till he steadys his self and his strike and only way he'll do it is running more rabbits. He might be a bit keen to start with give him a good walk before lamping just to take that edge off, And he should start learning how too use his speed going up and down the gears on his rabbits to make them easyer. So what id do if i was you is stick with giveing him asmany rabbits as you can without dishearting him if he's missing alot ect.. Another thing it could be and i would get the once over make sure he anit carrying an injury in the neck back ect, Might be whats not letting him strike as he is in pain every time he does. Not saying that what it is but maybe the once over it would give me peace of mind... 1 Quote Link to post
