Bad season

Recommended Posts

We seem to be the only ones that have had a very bad season

It started off ok but we were hit with mixy this year like i haven't seen the likes of for years and from then on things just went from bad to worse areas that we normaly get dozens every year we were lucky to get 3 or 4 rabbits the ferrets worked the best they could for what was there but it was just one of them seasons that thankfully you only get now and then it's the worst one we have had for a number of years yet last year was one of the best for a few years

In the words of forrest gump ferreting is like a box of chocolates you never know what you gonna get did anyone else have a bad season ?

No mate the opposite numbers wise much the same as every year ive two freezers full here and i should be out killing a few more till April but as ive no where to put them im loath th kill them yet , So i either buy another freezer and see my ferreting out or wait till ive room and lamp the rabbits which i dont enjoy as much as my ferreting . Some places where down and others up so i dont think its been to bad and last year i put 33,000 miles on the car this year ive done nothing like that

Similar to you, started off OK, not record breaking but we'd have a fair few runs out lamping and the ferrets got a fair amount of work, but then mixi hit home and there was hardly anything around. Night after night of no runs, probably one in six warrens occupied when ferreting, and when they were occupied it was usually just single bunnies. Farmer thinks I've done a cracking job :icon_redface: Annoying to have such a dire season cos it's my lurchers first, oh well....fingers crossed for next season!

Up I guess but it varies in areas one area wiped out by VHD the other side of the road not affected.

And being THL newbie for ferretting this season how does the reports compare to prior years on THL.

We have had a good season got maybe two more weeks before the pugs are put away for the season so will tot up then.

Ive only the one bit of permission, 120 acres, 50 odd miles away. Ive had about 160 rabbits off there in 10 trips. Im happy.

Theres still quite a few left so I should be ok next season, providing disease doesnt blow in. Had a handful from other places nearer home too :whistling: Not seen many if any diseased and dieing. Hope you have a better one this coming season
