A new obstacle...Moles.

Recommended Posts

I'm busy trapping the gardens of a cottage, and have never encountered this problem before...sandstone seams under the ground, they range from an inch down to more under the surface of the lawn. Very hard to find the tunnels in places.

Any hints and tips please?

Get a vibrator...

no seriously a mole vibrator kept our garden free for years

unless you want to hunt them...

waste of money,,, been to so many mole jobs with one of those in the midle of the garden,,, and i can garrantee theres a dozen other pesters on here done the same...........................the only reason theres no moles in your garden patrick , is because they dont want to be in your garden,,, perhaps lack of invertibrates for them to eat...

as for vibration keeping them out,,, :icon_eek: you see millions of mole hills next to roads ;)

not quite clear on what you mean moll,,, unless you mean the run is almost on the surface,,,, i asume there are hills??

you can trap in the hills,,, probe the hill till you locate the tunnel, then set your trap,,

That is what i am having to do Tomo, , but the soil is not compact and you cannot get a good sod out. Thought someone might have some hints on how to locate the runs near the surface, it is almost impossible to find them with the probe.

Patrick...it is pest control, not my own garden :D

If you are getting vertical shafts coming up between the seams of rock so that you don't find runs use one of Steve's Trapline traps vertically, where a hill is over a vertical spoil shaft. Had a couple of tricky ones like this recently.
