Born Hunter 17,960
My mate has had one for a few months now, every week he shows me something new he has found. Old paper weights, coins, buttons, a musket ball and last night he showed me what we think is the end of a WWII AA shell, but unconfirmed as of yet. Quite interesting but not my thing at all. A lot of history in our area dating back to the Romans so it's not a bad place for it.

But i want an all singing all dancing one the kind which tells you what metal it is and the depth, i don't want to end up digging 4ft for a rusty old nail every hour. steve66 3,810
Seen plenty of people find lots of interesting stuff with reasonably cheap machines ( not the Chinese ones though ) over the years Garret aces are quite good value for money and are easy to sell on if you want to up grade or give up

I know what you are saying Moll. a pal has one and is digging up old ring pulls and the like, so far he has had a few Musket balls and picked up a few quid around the beaches. this is the make I like, they seem to cover everything you would want from a Detector and would discriminate between the rubbish and the good stuff .......... http://www.joanallen.co.uk/minelab-explorer-se-pro-metal-detector-p/10371.htm
