gnasher16 31,602
Outside of London, Liverpool has to be up there?? it has a great boxing history and has produced its fair share of quality fighters John Conteh, Shea Neary, Robin Reid (sort of scouser ), Paul Hocko, Derry Matthews to name but a few, but it also has a good Amateur scene with clubs like The Solly and The Rotunda produceing some tidy fighters Couldnt agree more......ive had the conversation many times East London and Liverpool have a lot in common and are very similar areas.......apart from the fact we have a better football team of course You could add Alan Rudkin,Joey Singleton,Holligan to that list................didnt Dick Tiger live in Liverpool as well. Probably the seaport thing , do you mean the stadium when you mention the arena on Dale ST ? what a shame it got demolished ,the first purpose built boxing stadium in europe I saw some great fights there , the atmosphere was amazing was even lucky enough to fight there once , a night I,ll never forget ( even though I got spanked ). Whenever gnasher talks about the York hall and the baths I get a stab of regret that it,s not there anymore , these places have thier own unique atmospheres that just can,t be recreated ,no matter how modern or plush the surroundings

Seems a hard task holding onto traditions these days sadly.

Millet 4,497
Dentons , and who are the two Brothers doing well now think its there Dad who trains them ? Out Of Gus Robinsons Gym. Both good friend's of mine..Mark a year younger than his Brother graig had a cracking amatuer career with well over 100 fight's and only a few losses..he was in the british top 10 at one point but sadly went of the rail's..he did make a come back and won his first pro fight but jacked in after that..he boxed for the headland ABA and T coulter trained him..he was trained by fannon for his pro fight. Craig did not start of as good as mark in the amatuer's but stuck at it and went pro a couple of year's ago..and upto now as far as i am aware he has won all of his 13 pro fight's..the last one was about a month ago..the lad he was fighting would not get out of the corner after the second round because he said graig was throwing too many punches.. . They dad did not train them Max..
