ratting

Hi. i went rating with a few of the lads the other day and i took my misses staff he loved it but the misses ant happy so she said i can get myself a terrier for ratting and im just after advice of what terrier to get. my mayes use whippet crosses and jrts and i fancy something different im thinking of a patterdale any advice woild be great

Most light agile working terriers, be that a cross or not will kill rats for the hell of it, my preference would be Beddlington, Russel,or Plummer type, a beddy x whippet would do the job nicely and pick a few more bunnys up than most, some Whippets make shit hot ratters dispite them looking on the fragile side.

absolutely brilliant pics there and great looking dogs looks like you had a cracking day how many in total did you get cheers DM

 

They are from different days, if memory serves, the lowest we had in a day was 107 and the most was 315 :thumbs:

Ta for the pics some great dogs there. i need simething that will b able to live in the house with our lasses staf as i ant got space for another kennel as my sheppard is outside im liking the idea of a whippet cross. i really like the look of the broken coated lurchers

Beddlinton x Whippet of the right sort will give you some good opptions for some good sport, i once had a Beddy x Black n Tan that was a very good rat dog, could jump 4 ft in the air to stop a rat going over the top, wish i still had the old boy :cray: .
