Jill loosing hair.

I havent personally had one loose its coat , but know a few people whos ferrets have gone totally bald , i would pop the ferret to the vets as it could be a parasite causing the hairloss

She is in with two other jills and they are both fine Just her that its happening to.

at the end of last summer my hob went totally bald and i didnt know what it was. Went on the internet and found out what it was - apparently it is down to a tumour in the adrenal gland! might be able to find out a bit more out on here

iv got a dvd on ferreting and one of the blokes on there has a bald ferret

i have 2 albino jills that lost their hair last spring. They were not totally bald but they looked like they had been shaved with hair clippers

Ive had this happen loads of times, they dont go completley bald just like doddsy said - look like they had been shaved with clippers

 

Dont worry too much, take them to the vet as a precautionary measure, but im sure it will grow back without too much problems, mine always have.

my old jill went near completely bald a few years ago, and looked like she was coming into season, even though she's spayed. took her down the vets for a jill jab, no effect, they had her in for an eploratory, and found a big tumour on her adrenal gland. removed it, and *touch wood* no problems since!

theres some stuff they call ferretone...it good stuff give it some of that every other day... :thumbs-up:

I have has hobs have these type of moults you have described about 4 weeks after a castrate, a sort of stress moult, the hair pulls away in your hands & leaves a nice downey coat underneath minus the guard hairs , but they do put the coat back on a bit later in the yr
