Simoman 110
Any thoughts on the big fights on the main card? Headlining is BJ penn vs Nick Diaz, personally i think this COULD be a classic UFC fight, both have good stand up, heavy hands, strong chins and world class jiu-jitsu, the only significant attributes I would say Diaz has over Penn is amazing cardio and a size advantage, I think this could be close and although i hate the attitude of Diaz I think he may get the win. Cheik Kongo vs Matt Mitrione, both are big guys who i think will stand and trade, I think Kongo will win and it wont go to the judges. Mirko Filipovic vs Roy Nelson, again two fighters who refer to stand and trade although Nelson has good Jiu-jitsu and Cro cop has lethal kicks, both are coming of 2 losses and this the loser will probably never fight in the UFC again, I think this fight could honestly go either way as it depends which Cro cop turns up to fight, i'll stick my neck out and go with a win for Cro cop... Your thoughts?

gnasher16 31,602
Whens that on ? Lost track a bit of the latest fighters but id imagine Penn/Diaz will be a good fight.........the commentators always say them Diaz boys have good boxing ability but from what ive seen they are technically awful with their hands........usually seem to find a way to win and thats the sign of a good fighter in any sport.....surely it will come down to how much Penn has left ?.....i dont think he always dedicates himself 100 % and against a younger hungrier fighter that could prove costly....be interesting to watch though. moonlighter 1,165
I'm going bj.....meat head and big country.
Lab 10,979
Unfortunately I'll have to go for Diaz. A complete arsehole but good at what he does. His boxing skills are far superior of the bj that we see no and bj has no upper hand when it goes to the ground. Diaz win with submission for me.
j1985 1,984
I'd agree with what Simoman said, looking forward to the Penn vs Diaz!!!
marshman 7,758
It's Diaz for me although I reckon his arse hole went every time he thought about gsp!

I'd disagree and say Penn does have better jiu-jitsu if it goes to the floor, BUT i think Diaz is stronger, i think it could be a mental issue, Penn occasionally seems to lack the heart in the odd fight whereas Diaz always has drive and heart. It also depends on Penns conditioning if the fight goes beyond the first two rounds.......

To be honest thats the fight i'd really like to see, but Diaz fecked it up himself by going AWOL for press conferences etc etc so he was pulled from the headline fight and given Penn, then GSP got injured and the Penn/Diaz fight was made the main event.............. SLiP tHe DoG ! 129
TO WIN . DIAZ MITRIONE NELSON penn aint even that decent anymore
Simoman 110
TO WIN . DIAZ MITRIONE NELSON penn aint even that decent anymore I think Penn has lost his edge, BUT is still dangerous, his conditioning often lets him down.............
moonlighter 1,165
Penn was a bjj world champion and is used to fighting big guys. He's fought machida and he's light heavy.
trappa 518
Im going with Nelson, MItrione and Penn. I love crocop, he is a legend but is past his prime and Nelson has a head like a pumpkin. Mitrione/kongo should be a good fight but i just fancy mitrione to edge it-that said if kongo gets some GnP inits all him. Dont like penn at all he is an arrogant tosser (I know diaz is too) but Penn is a first class one. I think diaz has better stand up and penn has better ground game but im going with penn.

True about Cro cop, he said a couple of fights ago he had lost desire, yet then had a change of heart!!!! I think if he finds a ryhthm then Nelson is in trouble, but Nelson does have heavy hands. On a personal level i really dislike Mitrione so I hope he gets KO'd..........
