moonlighter 1,165
Check out radio 2, Jeremy vines show today. He's got a debate on about a farmer who shot 2 dogs on his land. Both the dog owner and farmer are on the show. Should be interesting if nothing else.

cragman 2,843
The usual end result, some for and some against what the farmer did. One guy emailed to say that he'd shoot the farmer if he did that to his dog, while another said that the farmer wouldn't be on the radio today if he'd shot his dog! Typical rants from uneducated people. The dogs were "hunting type" according to the farmer, a lurcher cross and a russell cross beagle. I take responsability for my dog on land a go over, he learnt from an early age what not to chase. Farmer said that these dogs had chased his cattle before and he'd lost calfs. There was a sign in the field telling owners what might happen if their dogs chased stock. Happened in Derbyshire I think. Farmer had informed the police straight away which is the right thing to do, and the police said the farmer was within the law to protect his stock. If that was the gospel truth in the matter then he did the right thing.
jetro 5,349
he was dead right. fair play to him. not the dogs fault though, but he was still right. some people with dogs should have more resepcet. that will teach them. j.
moonlighter 1,165
The dog owner claims they were just chasing rabbits and not the cattle. I tend to believe the dog owner as they lived next to the field and they walk through the field daily that they would be stock broken?? Plus it would be hard to shoot a dog that's chasing a cow without shooting the cow too. But only they know the truth.
