arcticgun 4,548
patience all the way with saluki, mine has been slow to mature in some departments, quick in others, like most say socialisation very important, best advice I got given and stil live by is when they get all 'saluki' on you, and the ol piss starts to boil, simply put yer hands in yer pockets and walk away very much the marmite dog, I like em and I like marmite as well Quote Link to post

rapidjenky 97
mine has been coming on really well and even had a few bunnys now she is coming up to 11 months. she will retrieve a dummy or toy all day everyday perfectly but rabbits is a different story. i sat in the muddy field calling her like a baby what seemed like at eternity scaring everything for miles away but she finally came back with her prize lastnight. i dont know if ill ever get another saluki because ive found out just how hard it is and how testing they can be. i love her to bits and if it wasent for the retrieve ide be over the moon with her progress. mine has taken a very long time to socialize, she is very very skittish so ive spent months getting her out and about. ive had to bite my tong ALOT, if she had been a bull x i dare say ide of lost my rag. even if i raise my voice its like ive given her 10 lashes! she is very sensitive to me. sometimes even when im being normal if she thinks theres a slightly wrong tone in my voice she thinks she`s done something wrong and the nightmear of reassuring her that everything is good starts all over again. but after all this ive never seen a dog run like her for 10 and a half months old. patients patients patients is the best advice that can ever be given, dont expect her to he perfect for a very long time. 1 Quote Link to post

pluto55 2
i always let mine be pups, dont do any hard training or smacking with them as they cant take it, honestly if you came here and seen my pups coming on in there kennels you wouldnt give me a tenner for them, BUT if you seen em in the field your pockets wouldnt be big enough for the money,ha ha, people exspect to much from pups just let em be there easier to train at 12 month old then 3 month old,FACT Quote Link to post
