Guest thebigdog
blade has to be smaller than 3 in and non-locking i think. Quote Link to post
ianh 83
yeah smaller than 3 inch and you have to have a reason to be carrying it, permission slip might help too to prove its all above board, if its the case they can't take it off you Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,960
You can carry a folding knife with a non locking blade of less than 3" without any need to justify it. A sheath knife or locking blade folder or anything over 3" you will have to have a justifiable reason for carrying it. So if you are on your way to do a bit of lamping (on permission) then it would be perfectly justifiable to have a 4" sheath knife with you for example. However, popping into the petrol station for a can of redbull and a packet of fags on your way to go lamping with your sheath knife on you is not justifiable. In such a situation you should leave your knife in the car. If all you want a knife for is gutting rabbits then just buy a sub 3" non locking folder and you can carry it in your pocket all the time with no worrys whether you're out lamping or not. ianh 83
what if you have an opinel knife? they lock but not automatically so is this counted as locking? all my mates use these as theyre sharp as hell and they are cheap so can toss it in hedge if needed or lose it and it aint hard to replace Quote Link to post
cookie 2 8
it still sounds as though its dogy to be carrying one when you read the law i only carry one when im out through the day if i go for a mooch i've thought about taking one lamping but i dont want to get pulled over with a one on me cause normally they ask if youve got one and its not worth the hassle this is what pisses me off about this country . Guest borntorun1988
a couple of years a go i got stopped with my mate with an opel locking knife on our way back from hunting and the police took it off him so i said to the copper why carnt he keep the knife cause we have told you we been hunting with it and they said thats not a good enough reason so i asked the copper what are you legaly aloud to carry and he said not bigger that 3inch long and in no way can the blade lock its got to be folding only so from that day i carry with me a swiss army knife they keep an edge well and are handy Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,793
I use a folding Stanley knife. You don't need a long blade for rabbits Quote Link to post

Wrong, you will always need to justify. My advice would be, only carry a blade/bladed article if you really need to, i.e if going fishing /hunting ect, then leave it at home. Quote Link to post
