Looking for permission

Recommended Posts

Hi, Have just dusted off the air rifle now the summer is coming to an end and am going to try get some permission. Im a member of BASC so have the insurance (im presuming that helps). How do I go about finding permission? I live in Halifax, West yorkshire and we're not short of fields around here..

Thanks

knock on the doors and ask, you will get plenty knock backs but eventualy somebody will give you a bit of land to shoot on. expect to find most is taken as thats the norm nowadays

what he said mate....

Get yourself some letters/permission slips knocked up and get out there and spend some time knocking on doors.

Dress smart casual and always be polite.

Maybe even ask if they need a hand doing odd jobs around the place in exchange for some land. Even suggest they give you a trial and if theyre not happy send you on your way

But above all, keep trying!

Good advice everywhere.

Some selling points to drop in too:

eyes and ears on the landowners side around when he/she isn't on the land,

quick response if he/she needs it,

safe and mature attitude to the job,

discretion when faced with members of the public,

able to lend a hand with other things if needed.

I have dropped these things into conversations in the past and they certainly seemed to help.

Once you have a permission, getting your next one is easier if you can name-drop about someone you already shoot for.

All the best

Duncan.
