i dont know how you stand but i think its more of a case of a male copper showing off in front of a female copper. they most probably would of nicked you if they could.   should try mugging people

who the fcuk are the gavvers to talk about dogs when one of there own leaves police dogs in a car to die in the heat (same officer TWICE) tossers i will still be running my dog like that !

The question still hasnt been answered..is it legal or not?

dont see how it can be illegal as you can have a kid on a trailer type bike fixed to the back of your pike and they can pedle and move about so they could make you fall off but then they arnt at the side of you ! i would say its fine ! is there no gavvers on here who would know ?

it's illegal to be running the dog along side the bike( whether it's on the lead or not) on a public highway.

Is there a specific law regarding that or are you using the 'wreckless cycling'/'having an animal under control' laws?

That makes a difference because it depends how it's done. If the animal is under control by being properly tethered and your cycling isn't wreckless as you've taken reasonable safety precautions then I find it hard to see how you could be successfully prosecuted for it.

i don't know if there is a specific law, i remember reading about it a while back (can't remember where) i will see if i can find it, does anyone have RUNNING DOG MAINTENANCE by PENNY TAYLOR? i'm sure there is something in that about biking with dogs on a public highway.
